Forums - Nintendo - why is nintendo wrong to be proud of their metacritic scores?

HollyGamer said:

It's wrong, what ever reason you saying it's not logical. You can love Nintendo all you want, but it doesn't mean Iwata is right all the time, you need to respect him as a human that always make a mistake.

Iwata did wrong when he brag all metascore infront of investor,  what Investor need is result of the games sales, Iwata need to prolong his presentation " we have a lot of games with high meta score .......(+) that resulting high sales for console or game " bla...bla..bla...,  If he cannot talk sales then he doesn't need to talk.

WAIT!! WHAT???

First you say that he ("always makes a mistake") which is not true and then you say I don't respect him, which is not true either. Don't let it - you know what -  blind you. You have to have better arguments than false accusations.

I'm gonna say it again because it seems you were unable to comprehend it. In a investor meeting, the company can talk about the quality of their products. There's no such thing as "SALES IS EVERYTHING, SALES, SALES, MORE SALES, HAHAUSHUA...". I'm a investor (shareholder) and I want to know about the quality of the products. This is really simple.

He did nothing wrong, good games are why people eventually pick up consoles, from what I recall in front of investors he had improved console sales, good software sales, Amiibos taking the world by storm and 2015's line up, don't really see any issue here tbh it just comes across as some people taking it a bit personal.

Define good games in your opinion ???.................   with due all respect i am agree and disagree with what ever your answer because good games had many different meaning for every person, but sales number don't lie and cannot be argue. Is OK if Nintendo brag about meta number (which is unscientific anyway), but Investor is not gamer that care good or not (because what they need is sales ). And maybe they need to get away from the meta score, so they can get a lot of games sales.

Do you believe quality help product selling on the market?  Do you think quality in your eyes is  the same with quality with what most consumer want right now?

The answer is "NO", Quality is arguable but not sales, in front of investor you cannot presenting vague matter, you presenting what investor interest is.

Btw you need to except Iwata mistake with that you appreciate him as human.

What Nintendo is saying: "Our products are generally considered, by critics and consumers, to be consistently good". That's not a bad thing to be saying.

Yes, Metacritic has a few methodological short comings, and there is a political issue of how it is used by the industry. But I can't see why Nintendo pointing to it as evidence that they're games are generally held in high regard is a bad thing.

I think it's funny though. Kotaku are generally fairly biased against Nintendo, whereas I don't think I've ever seen a negative article on them in Forbes. I think it's because they get such good quotes and headlines out of Reggie.

Funny how sales stopped lying when it wasn't the Wii selling well, don't matter what you think all that matters is the majorities perception of the games which both critics and consumers consider them to be good overall, no matter your opinion you can never argue that, sales do not dictate quality and vice versa. You clearly know little about investors and you don't want to get into that argument with me because I deal with them on a day to day basis in my job.

Investors aren't just about making money they want to know that the brand is being kept healthy so it can make money in the long term, I'll highlight one flaw to you, you're solely focusing on the Wii U they'd be focusing on the Wii U and 3DS as a whole. As an investor the quality of the product is key factor in your judgement in investing, look up on value investing that Warren Buffet is famous for, even if Nintendo doesn't sell as much as Sony or MS they'll always have a dedicated fanbase who generate more then enough money for them to stay in the markets and in turn make investors money, one factor in that happening has always been the quality of their products. So yes Iwata can highlight product quality.

It's great having good  meta critique number that help sell the game, isn't?

They sell well even without good scores. At the end of the day, it's just nice to know you've made a quality product that was enjoyed by the majority.

Oh.. I get it. You want Nintendo to go with the current flow of selling by marketing no matter what quality their products are. As a consumer, it doesn't looks smart to say so - as a greedy company, it does.

I'm out.
