Forums - Gaming Discussion - Peter Molyneux: “I haven’t got a reputation in this industry any more”

What a horrendous interview. I'm surprised the "journalist" didn't pull a knife on him or something. There's aggressive and then there's that. There's no way I would have continued the interview had I been in Molyneux's shoes. I'm utterly disgusted.

Yeah, but you are a normal person. Molyneux, on the other hand, lives for the spotlight. He could have put an end to the phone interview at any time. Heck, he could have never accepted it in the first place after he said that he is done with the press. He could have summed up the state of Godus and everything around it by putting an elaborate post on his company's website; laying out the current facts, apologizing for the shortcomings, the plans going forward (including handing over the reigns for PR work to someone else). But instead he gave yet another interview because he simply cannot restrain himself.

I think this is the interview that made him declare he was done with interviews, no?

I don't feel sorry about him. He had it all coming. This has been pilling up for years now and I'm happy that finally someone had the balls to put it all bluntly to his face. This should serve as a huge wake-up call for him, hopefully he'll learn something, though I'm affraid he'll just go full-defence mode, hide in his shell and put blame on the whole world but himself. Sad truth is that at his age, he's either a liar or an idiot to keep on doing what he's doing, there is no third way. I'm very sorry PM, but it's about time to grow up and grow some balls.

That said, I actually like his games (Fable 1 was the last one I've played though), but find his interviews disrespectful bs. We have known for years that when sitting down to his interview, we'll get served with a bunch of lies, so it's nothing new and I'm happy people are starting to hold him accountable for what he says.

His attitude towards KS and backers is also unacceptable. KS forces you to lie? Maybe I'd listen to this argument, had it not came from a person who's been lying to me years before KS became a thing.

I absolutely hate people who promise me wonders, yet deliver totally average products, be it in gaming or any other area of life. I never respect such people, cause their word means nothing to me.

Pretty much sums it up perfectly.

Awful interview.

I find myself largely agreeing with Jim on this one.

Tim Schafer defending Molyneux:

I am not a fan of Tim not addressing 95 percent of thee issues brought up by thee interview with Peter. Tim did offer support and compassion but also said Peter should be held accountable. Lets be honest, until this interview, nobody in the media was really holding Peter accountable for the wrongs we all saw him committing.

I do not find the tone of thee interview with Peter as poor like many have expressed, as I am an interviewer myself. If Peter had thee answers and facts to back himself, he would have slaughtered this interviewer and we would be talking about him being amazing, a hero, and destroying the fraudulent media. However, the truth is, all the questions were legitimate and he is on the losing end here. Peter needed this. The community needed this. Thee industry needed this.

I would love to see him forced to work under Nintendo on a very tight leash. It'd probably kill him.

No intention to watch the video, but isn't Schafer another one of those guys who screwed over their audience with a kickstarter project?

I don't know.

More than having to actually produce something good under Miyamotos management, I think what would actually kill him would be not being allowed to go running off his mouth to the press every 2 minutes about vague gameplay concepts that don't work even as a soundbite.
