I think the initial Mario 3D World idea is dead-on. And it could free up Mario to then go back to a more Galaxy-64 ish style. It would also speed up development considerably to use an existing engines. It's a gorgeous looking engine too.
Amiibo Universe
- Runs off Mario 3D World engine, 60 fps, developed by EAD Tokyo
- 4-player main story mode
- 4-player multiplayer "arena battle" mode
- Online play
- 40-50 stages initially, based on several different IP
- Mario, Peach, Toad, Luigi, Link, DK, Pikachu, Samus, Fox, Sonic, Pitt, Marth, Villager as initially playable characters.
- Amiibo Universe has a corresponding anime series, done by the same people who did the Kid Icarus ones.
- Other characters will come online in "waves" as time goes on with new stages and other unlockables.
