Forums - Nintendo - Majora's Mask is NOT about Link looking for Navi

I really have never understood why so many people think Majora's Mask is about Link looking for Navi when it goes out of its way to say otherwise.

Allow me to present my (mostly) spoiler-free argument:

  1. Link got a heart piece from a skull kid in Ocarina of Time. Remember, the one you played Saria's Song for?
  2. The third and fourth spoken line in Majora's Mask is Skull kid recognizing Link. "Huh? This guy? Well, it shouldn't be a problem."
  3. How does Majora's Mask end again? Ah, yes. Link makes a carving on a tree stump.

I put it to you that Majora's Mask is exactly what it says it is; a story about Link going to save his friend, the skull kid.

Huh well, you learn something new every day.

I've always believed it was Navi. At the beginning when this friend is mentioned, you can hear a fairy sound effect. Implying that it is Navi.

The Skull Kid only recognises Link at the end, saying "You have the same smell as the fairy kid who taught me that song in the woods."

It's because Wikipedia says so.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

who would look for navi? its the worst person ever...

its obviously navi, at the beginning it explains that the one he is looking for is the one that shared adventures with link and that after finishing the adventure that made link a hero both parted ways; the only one that fits the description is Navi, even the majoras mask manga confirms it

Skull Kid: The fuck? Who are you? Well get lost random stranger or I will disappear
Link: "plays Sarias song"
Skull Kid: Cool song bro here get that random crap thing I have no use for.
Link: Hey cool I have a new best friend.

Conclusion: Cringe worthy beta!

Don't quote me on this but I believe that the manga isn't confirmed canon to the series, unless Nintendo came out and confirmed it and I just didn't here about it.

Am I the only one who remembers prerelease media material that says quite explicitly that Link enters the woods looking for Navi???

Have a nice day...

I give this thread a 5/10. The potential is there, just make it less obvious.

Even if not, just by reading the text that appears before the game actually begins you can tell by bthe story that link is indeed looking for navi

here is the prologue of the game

"

In the land of Hyrule, there echoes a legend. A legend held dearly by the Royal Family that tells of a boy...

A boy who, after battling evil and saving Hyrule, crept away from the land that had made him a legend...

Done with the battles he once waged across time, he embarked on a journey. A secret and personal journey...

A journey in search of a beloved and invaluable friend...

A friend with whom he parted ways when he finally fulfilled his heroic destiny and took his place among legends..

"

Is there anyone besides navi that could fit this description?
