With N3DS launching in the west tommorow I predict that it will slow the decline for the console with 11M 2015,9M 2016,8M 2017. I also think successor in 2017 Q1 but thats not the focus of this. What do you think?

That would be very impressive numbers. I lean more towards a 65 to 70mil. Combine that with the Vita which should land around 12 to 15mil and you got your 77 to 85mil handheld market which, imo, makes perfect sense now that the neighboring demographic that now makes up mobile has flown the coop. But you know what they say, never say never. But I will say "unlikely"
It depends on this years e3 cause imo, after we see 2015's e3, we will have a good idea as to how much Nintendo is planning to support the 3ds/n3ds. If they have plenty of games being released for the 3ds/n3ds as well as many announcements for 2016, then I can certainly see it going up there (although, 78 still seems a bit high) but if they dont show too much, then I think it will never make it

If 3DS sells 11 million this year that wouldn't be slowing the decline, it would be reversing it.
The DSi and XL was good for 40% of the DS line sales, so around 70 mil is what I'm thinking.

So you do realize that those sales per year would probably mean it would sell more than 78M, I mean I doubt they're gonna discontinue the 3DS the second it's successor comes out.
Personally I predict the same except 12M this year and 4M after it's successor comes out, so 83M. In other words I'm predicting it'll barely beat PSP and GBA
It's also important to note that systems don't just stop selling after their successor comes out, especially when it comes to Nintendo handhelds. It's certainly possible for the 3DS to sell over 80m LT but it would take some work from Nintendo and an inevitable price cut.
