Ok I may be interpreting your original statement wrong. I interpreted it as competitive Melee players play Melee because they dont want to adapt. If this is the case my point stands. If your point was that they can't adapt to having other games in the scene then I would completely agree. Melee players have had trouble adapting to existing alongside Brawl and SSB4, and that is why there is so much controversy. It is not helped by the fact that Melee players have an extreme distrust of Nintendo after EVO 2013 and thus are quick to dismiss any new game in the series.
