Too hard to compare but Xenogears was definitely something new, sadly disc 2 underdelivered.
If I had to choose, I'd go for Xenogears. Guess I played ff too much (7 and in general).

You picked 2 hell of a games to compare. Man, this is hard. I'd say Final Fantasy VII. Beating Xenogears by like 0.0000000000001 of a point. Xenogears was really great. I wish they'd do an HD remake of it. Loved the battle system.
