Forums - Nintendo - Watch Dogs first impressions (Feb 2015)

I'm not entirely sure why this game has got such hate going on for it. I have only played it for about an hour or two so far, so it's still quite early without doubt.

The graphics are fine, at least in my opinion. The driving doesn't feel right, but that's not too big of an issue in my opinion as you can still mostly get used to it. I dislike the driving in most sandbox games though. It feels very similar to many of them, wallowy and like riding a fat pig. The gunplay seems fine although I haven't done too much as I perfer to try to make it through games like this with as little gun play as possible as long as it's an option. It does seem like it missed a great opportunity with hacking, but at the same time with the amount of it it might have caused a flow issue with the game. Perhaps there could have been different difficulty levels of hacking like with Deus Ex : Human Revolution but the lower level hacks like traffic lights and such in fast paced situations don't need any special hacking mini game or whatever.

When running around on the ground the game feels quite solid, but there should be a bit of a mechanic of trying to hide in plane sight when police are looking for you. It seemed very out of place right at the beginning of the game when you leave the stadium and they instantly know it's you that is the cause of the issues, and even when you get in a car. That seemed a bit unintuitive.

So far the game is fun enough, it feels pretty good. I would say a 7 out of 10 (very good) scale would be 1 is crap, 5 is good, 10 is superb.

I haven't run into any bugs yet. I thought I had for a bit but then I realized that the trees were shaking like they were glitching out due to wind blowing lol. It just wasn't done very well.

I think this is a game that had the unfortunate tast of trying to live up the hype that was laid out for it. So far. I'll try to update this after longer play time and/or beat the main story. I doubt I'll play any online unless I'm really bored.

Edit: Just purchased the game for $30.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

Around the Network

I thought it was fine. It just wasn't revolutionary like people expected.

I will never play it.

Not that I think it is bad or anything, I just don't want to play it.

I'm barely what you'd called a gamer anymore.

Can't wait for The Zelder Scrolls 3: Breath of The Wild Hunt!

It looks and plays fine on Wii U, I have seen a bit of the PS4 version, and whilst it is better, i dont think the Wii U version is badly gimped in any way. The core Watch dogs experience is all intact on Wii U, with the added bonus of the handy interactive map and off tv play, which is always a big deal for me.
