Forums - Sony Discussion - Opinion Piece: Sony Likely to Acquire Ready at Dawn Following The Order 1886

I don't get the obsession with wanting to buy studios. You buy a studio, you incur risk, risk in paying more employees, when IMO it makes more sense to stay 2nd party and just have them contractually obligated to make exclusive games. If the game ends up well, then they could sign future games, and or buy out the IP itself.

Just my thoughts. Also some studios may not want to be bought out.

I actually think PwerlvlAmy had a legit opinion. She wasn't saying the game would turn out bad if Sony bought them. She was saying it would look bad for Sony if this game ends up bad, because it would make people question their purchase. Now if it ends up good, then Sony would look like totally wise.

I feel the original point was worded a little poorly, but was later clarified, as you said.

Some of these later posts are a pretty sad attack on another user.

If that was the case then her post should've been somthing like:

"Hopefully they dont buy them if this game ends up meh"

They should buy quantic dream too

Agreed! Sony 1st party is already awesome, adding a couple more promising studios can only be a good thing

Fahrenheit remake is not on Ps4 if they was Sony studio we would have all the games on ps4 too

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Paying more employees costs money, but that costs money as well...

I'm not sure on the exact money that is required or the costs, but another aspect is the actual return the game will bring in. I can understand the wanting to buy a studio if it puts out a really high quality game that sells, but what if the game ends up selling poorly. Wanting to buy a studio just for the sake of it is something I don't understand.

But yes, I do see what you are saying with the bolded.

Should have clarified that from the beginning. I guess the main question that needs to ask, is it financially more viable to outright buy a studio, or have them be a second party.

Highly unlikely but I guess it's possible if The Order sells really well.

I don't really see anyone, "attacked". I see people just trying to understand what it meant.

EDIT: Trash's Warning

This could have both good and bad things. But if it means the studio can keep going and keep pumping out quality titles, you'll hear no complaints from me.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

The game seems like it's built to make profit so commercial success is almost a sure thing. Then, with the second title they'll have more funds allotted for multiplayer, expanding the lore/universe and making a game in the same scope of Uncharted 2. It makes sense for Sony to pick them up but as others have pointed out... why didn't they do that with Insomniac?
