I don't get the obsession with wanting to buy studios. You buy a studio, you incur risk, risk in paying more employees, when IMO it makes more sense to stay 2nd party and just have them contractually obligated to make exclusive games. If the game ends up well, then they could sign future games, and or buy out the IP itself.

Just my thoughts. Also some studios may not want to be bought out.

Paying more employees costs money, but that costs money as well...

I'm not sure on the exact money that is required or the costs, but another aspect is the actual return the game will bring in. I can understand the wanting to buy a studio if it puts out a really high quality game that sells, but what if the game ends up selling poorly. Wanting to buy a studio just for the sake of it is something I don't understand.

But yes, I do see what you are saying with the bolded.

Should have clarified that from the beginning. I guess the main question that needs to ask, is it financially more viable to outright buy a studio, or have them be a second party.
