That's because the user reviewers clearly have an anti-DLC agenda, for better or for worse, whereas the reviewers only care about if the game is any good. Even looking at some of the user reviews on Steam, a number of people who gave the game a thumbs down admit that the gameplay's quite good and they only rate it poorly because of DLC.
Either way, it's gone u pquite a bit in number of players compared to earlier when the peak was in the 7k's. There are currently 17k+ people playing it with today's peak being 27801.
Also, XBOne back above The Order, Evolve PS4 dropped significantly to #29, XBOne version holding up better at #22.

Well, I actually don't like the game and not because of the DLC... I just find it dry, boring and incredibly repetitive and unworthy of $60. But in reponse to the DLC issue... if people don't like that, and critics know this - shouldn't they consider this as a negative thing that readers obviously don't want? I guess what I am saying is - do reviewers really know what gamers want?
Either way, maybe its for the best that people rebel against this infestation of DLC that has become games.

It's not a reviewer's job to think about the tastes and preferences of the average gamer. They review a game according to their own tastes and opinions. But, when the DLC approach being taken for this game has got a lot of pre-launch media and gamer attention it would be a significant gap in a review for the reviewer to not voice their opinion on whether the DLC approach has significantly impacted on the value and depth of the out of the box experience.
Only one monster option, with all the other monster types being behind DLC paywalls seems to me like a major negative on the value and depth of a game being sold at full AAA price. To me that would warrant taking off a whole point for a review score, an 8 would become a 7, a 7 would become a 6. But if you can unlock those monsters via level progression without having to pay extra, then that's OK. I have no problem with giving people the option to play for extras (the long route) or pay for extras (the short route). It's only when the choice is pay for extras or miss out that there is a real problem with a game being released with overly constrained day 1 content.
Interesting to see the PS4 version of Evolve plummet while the Xb one version holds up fairly well. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Xb one version wind up ahead on NPD / VGC.
