I put it in the other thread and I forgot to put it in this thread I see, Evolution causes a 20+ point increase for the pokemon. Rare Candies is the only way to gain levels 5 for 400 or 1 for 100. They also increase points by 2. Once fully evolved they also gain access to the mega stone which allows them to mega evolve for 30 post which doubles the amount of points they gain along with a small 10 point bump.
