Can a hardcore gamer like playing games on the wii? Yes of course
But that not the same as asking : Does a hardcore gamer want hardcore games on the Wii? I would say a lot are probably like me don't. As a hardcore gamer I sometimes like to play casual games also.

Lots of sites have communities that hate the Wii, simply because they are jealous of its sales. If it didn't own their console in sales, they would rarely bring it up, like the gamecube.

It doesn't matter what your platform of choice is, there's more than enough hate to develop a persecution complex over it.

That goes far beyond just gaming consoles, too.

That's not really what the topic is about, but I'll respond:

I respect your opinion, but respectfully disagree. I feel that gamers want to play the hardcore games where ever they are available, on whichever console. I hate the 360 because one RRoD'd on me, but I love Alan Wake, and will find a way to play it any way I can.

I feel that the best hardcore games this gen, Brawl, Kart, MP3, Zelda, are all on the Wii, and so there and my PC is where I have gamed most of my "hardcore" games, while my PS3 hasn't seen much action.

I mean, the PS2 is a piece of shit console that sold a ton. As a Gamecube fan, why would a be jealous of a crappy console?

In actual purchase numbers, it probably isn't. It might be close though. It would depend on what percentage of owners you consider "hardcore" -- my guess is less than half for the Wii, which would work out to around 8-12 million.

At the news/discussion outlets I go to, I also don't find discussion on the Wii to be particularly dominant. Last year the platform discussions seemed to be all about the PS3, with all the questions floating around about whether it would boom or bust. For games, it was more about the 360: Bioshock, Halo 3, Mass Effect. Maybe it's just the sites I visit.

Wow, that site is in the hole for Sony, the freakin community is PISSED that the PS3 lost to the 360 this week(and hating on VGchartz something fierce, those bastard sobs), and they hate every console that isn't sony. Even the stories are pro sony. That's one of the worst sites on the internet, lol. Is that a sony funded gaming website for real?

I agree, they aren't, but are you telling me none of the PS3 or 360 fanboys are jealous of the Wii sales figures, mainstream media coverage, and popularity on the internet? I think about half of them are. Is it sad? Yes. Does it happen? Oh yeah, that's why we see so much Wii hating. There is no other explaination.
