Yeah this ending was better than the one they went with. I haven't read the book but, its still not the same from what I know of it. In the book Anna is actually a "daylight" vampire and she actually brings Neville back to the vampires and they kill him. In the book Neville is a "Legend" to the vampires because he hunts them down and walks in the daylight.

You have to know the book is a totally different story so it will not be pertinent for you to know the ending in it. Read the book if you can ;)

I liked it, better than the movie version for sure. The only part I didn't like is he didn't explain why he's the Legend other than just looking at the pictures on the wall.

I want to hear him say I am Legend. 

Much better than the original ending, but nowhere near as good as the book. Still a bad movie overall that bastardized a great book.

In the book some of the vampires had retained sentience and were forming a new society at night. Neville didn't know it, and had been killing many of these in the new society during the day when they slept. Anna (called Ruth in the book) was one of those he captured for testing, and she was observing him. When he realized that he had been murdering intelligent beings it was too late, and they executed him. He realized in the end the irony that to them, he was the monster. A legendary slayer of their new society.

I liked this ending better. The only problem I had with it though was that the alpha male didn't die. That would defeat the whole purpose of the ending though. O well.

I never read the book. Am I missing much?

Umm...The dog was really good in the movie...That is the only positive thing I can say about it...This ending is (marginally)better...

Do they have an alternate cut for the rest of the movie too?

that is def. much better. guess they didn't think the American audience was intelligent enough for this ending or something -_-

I loved the Movie, and that ending was much better.
