If you haven't read Crazzy's thread - LEAVE this thread, and go to that one.
This thread is simply a response to Crazzy's thread.
The differences:
1) PS2 cost 299$ in 2001 for whole year, Wii cost 250$ for now.
PS2 January 07th - Wii January 06th
Total - 247k <> Total - 522K
PS2 vs Wii = - 275K
PS2 January 14th - Wii January 13th
Total - 150k <> Total - 203K
PS2 vs Wii = - 328K
PS2 January 21th - Wii January 20th
Total - 136k <> Total - 258K
PS2 vs Wii = -450K
PS2 January 28th - Wii January 27th
Total - 177k <> Total - 313K
.
PS2 vs Wii= - 586K
PS2 February 04th - Wii February 03rd
Total - 185k <> Total - 343K
PS2 vs Wii = - 744K
PS2 February 11th - Wii February 10th
Total - 166k <> Total - 438K
PS2 vs Wii = -1016K
PS2 February 18th - Wii February 17th
Total - 163k <> Total - 235K
PS2 vs Wii = -1088K
PS2 February 25th - Wii February 24th
Total - 188k <> Total - 242K
PS2 vs Wii = - 1142K
PS2 March 04th - Wii March 02nd
Total - 213k <> Total - 375K
PS2 vs Wii= - 1304
This means:
Wii sold 1304K more than Ps3 in 2 months
Ps2 sold 1625, and Wii 2929K.
That means, Wii sold 80% more than Ps2. And since this for some insanely odd reason will keep going in %, the Wii will sell 28.8M this year. This is done by Crazzy's logic.
But of course, Wii won't keep the same % above Ps2. Here is the total sales for Ps2 the following months.
Total Ps2 sales from 3rd March 2001 to 31st March 2001: 1225K.
If the Wii were to continue selling 80% above, it would have to sell 2205K.
It will probably sell about 500K less than this.
7th April to 5th May: 1056K
To keep 80%: 1900K
Selling this much is possible, but 100K less is likely.
14th April to 12th May: 1021K
To keep 80%: 1837K
The Wii could very well sell this much.
19th May to 16th June: 817K
To keep 80%: 1470K
The Wii should have no problem at all selling this much.
23rd June to 21st July: 1379K
To keep 80%: 2482K
The Wii does not stand a change at selling this much. 600K less minimum.
28th July to 25th August: 1226K
To keep 80%: 2206K
The Wii does not stand a change at 2206. 400K less minimum.
1st September to 6th October: 1218K
To keep 80%: 2192K
The Wii will sell 300K less minimum.
13th October to 17th November: 1860K
To keep 80%: 3348K
The Wii is heaps away from selling that much.
24th November to 29th December: 5596K.
To keep 80% 10 072K
There is no way in hell the Wii can be close to matchin that.
But what does this mean?
Well, the Wii doesn't stand a change at keeping a rate of 80% above Ps3.
That also means, that if the Ps3 has to sell more than 56% of the Wii, to be even close to matchin the Ps2. As a matter of fact, it will still be far away.
If there are any mistakes, or anything that should be added, post it, and I'll add it.
