Forums - Gaming Discussion - Next-gen business models are "embarrassing", says Brennan

Actually, DMA are responsible for the GTA series which kinda hammers the final nail in the coffin of Happy Squirrel's theory about UK devs not being able to make a game as popular as GTA :S

Sounds like something Sean Malstrom talked about once.

Words from the Official VGChartz Idiot

WE ARE THE NATION...OF DOMINATION!

So first of all I had to look up who Blast Entertainment was. Great, a company with punctuation in its name. Little Brain and Charlotte's Web? Huh? After I got past all that, though, I read the article. At the end of the day, if you don't spend $20 million on your title... somebody else will. Most games this early should be able to shift enough units globally to cover the production costs, if not much more.

Somewhat liked article before launching Wii and now liking it even more :p

Nothing's cheaper than something free.

It will be interesting to see if there will be a Cleopatra of video games.

Well if you think about it, the videogame is already like the movie industry: Spider-man 1, 2, 3 X-men 1, 2, 3 Star wars 6 episodes Indiana Jones 3 movies (4th in production) Rocky 1-6 etc etc etc you get the point Mario party 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 ,8 ..... 99 GTA 3, Vice City, GTA4 Gran Turismo 1-5 Halo 1 2 3 etc etc you get the point Videogame developers takes risks, but they usually just stick to what they know and make a sequel.

Great series of articles - it perfectly describes what Nintendo is doing. And you know what? Its working - damned well. Sony just can't compete... Sony will be releasing its financial figures tomorrow for the last qrt & entire year. A 2billion loss for 12months (games division) - for the industry "leader"? Is this really a healthy way to run the industry? I'll stick with Nintendo's strategy instead thanks.

It's scary to think that those Sean malstrom articles where written last year. Incredible insight into the business thinking behind Nintendo and the others. Has this guy stopped writing or has he moved to another site? I want to read the aftermath articles.

Haha! Yes, even he undeestimated the Wii it seems.

You forgot GTA San Andreas. You racist!

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs
