Interesting... Hopefully the new version of Club Nintendo will be better than it is now. I've been generally pretty unimpressed by it. Maybe we'll start seeing stuff like Wii games for Wii U or more schwaag like free Amiibo's for loyalty. Maybe they're going to try and mimic Playstation Plus which is a great rewards program imo. Here's hoping they call it "Nintendo Power!" lmao

I think it's going to only reward digitally, any I don't think it will be like PS Plus at all. Nintendo doesn't do subscriptions. It's going to be similar to Club Nintendo in that it will reward you for buying and probably getting others to buy their hardware and software.

Whatever it is, it won't be a separate thing anymore. It'll simply be an added feature to the Nintendo Network and be tied to NNIDs. You'll probably be able to access it directly on the eshop. And hopefully we'll see a NNID phone app with all this stuff in it.

Around the Network

Now this could mean very good news ahead with something more like PS and LIVE accounts/network alongside the cross-buy thing. I hope they are preparing it for the next gen (it seems to be).

The "downside" is that we may have reached the point to pay for online gaming on Nintendo. To be honest, if it's good, I'm OK with it.

Interesting.

I always liked the physical rewards, so I hope there's going to be some kind of replacement for that, but it's exciting nonetheless to see what they'll come up with exactly. Seems unified account-system is finally going to happen. Now the puzzle begins; how to spend my last 3000 stars .

so that means kirby and mario party 10 will not be able to be registered then

Yeah, but they'll probably work towards the new rewards system in some way. I'm pretty sure their next financial results briefing will be at the end of this month, which means we should learn more about it by the end of next week.

I don't think this will ever happen unless Nintendo decides to give up on expanding their audience and resigns themselves to simply wringing as much money as they can out of Nintendo loyalists.

I'm 99% sure it has nothing to do with a paid subscription. Nintendo forshadowed this last year. No one's paying for online on a Nintendo system.

Shocked me quite a bit when I first heard about it. Probably should have seen it coming though with the lack of rewards and codes just starting to be printed on the box art paper (Not a good thing). I really hope their new system will work.

Also, the North American schedule differs and can be found here: http://club2.nintendo.com/program-notice/

Never? Even if they get an infrastructure like LIVE for the next gen (when it would start being paid)?

Hmn.. This could be very expensive for them to keep running without subscriptions. But hey, I know almost nothing from their business so...  let it be FREE.  =)

After reading Iwata's quote from the quarterly report, its looking like its going to be along the lines of a discount program. This could be kind of amazing, especially with the way Nintendo is pricing its budget titles. If it does end up being some kind of discount program, I do have some concerns though... Nintendo is already having issues with 3rd party support when it comes to the Wii U. I personally don't see reducing a third parties profit margin on that console even further as a smart move. I wonder, if it is a discount loyalty program, if it will apply only to Nintendo IP's or if in the case of third parties, Nintendo's cut of the liscensing fee will be reduced to help intice third parties back to the platform.

To be honest, club nintendo kind of sucked. I have plenty of star i didnt redeem because the rewards were completely uninteresting.
I hope the next reward system has actual games from the virtual console that you can get aswell as discounts.
No merchandise besides amiibo, thank you!
