Forums - Nintendo - Were the 1st downloadable Wii games for Wii U strategically chosen?

I still think that the reason Galaxy 1 wasn't the first option, is because they are releasing it again either on 3DS or Wii U.
Bill Trinnen said no new Mario game this year, but speaking to a youtuber he mentioned there would be several Mario games this year because of it's anniversary. And i refuse to believe MP 10 and Mario Maker would be the only Mario titles to celebrate the 30th birthday!

Je refuse!!

You guys are probably right that I am reading too much into it. I just thought it was odd that the games people always ask for from Nintendo are Galaxy 3 and a new 3D Metroid game. Then lo and behold, they announce Galaxy 2 and Prime Trilogy to download on Wii U. It just seems like they're hinting at new game announcements, but like many of you have said, it's probably not the case.

This makes sense...

Why would they not have done Galaxy 1 first? Because they are going to show the direct sequel to 2. Why punch out? Because it's gotten popular again and they are going to make another one. Why Metroid trilogy? Because they are absolutely working on a new 3d Metroid shooter game and it is almost ready.

If your theory is right we will also get new installments of Pandoras Tower, Sin and Punishment and Zangeki no Reginleiv! http://www.siliconera.com/2015/01/15/pandoras-tower-sin-punishment-star-successor-coming-wii-u-eshop/

I would think so. Nintendo are a multi billion dollar corportation. They don't jump into anything without a plan, a strategy and a plan for the planning plan.

punch out was a weird choice but everything else is kinda expected and probably most in demand.

I see where you're coming from, but at the same time I don't know. They might've just decided to pick popular games from the Wii. Though I do think it's odd they didn't go with Galaxy 1 first.

Official Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Thread

those are great games to lure in people and as others have said it's not to announce new titles but that does not mean they won't announce a new Metroid for WiiU at this years E3 along with other games for next year

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

If anything, it's the opposite. "Sorry you're not getting sequels to these games! Here's something to hold you over!"

This I somewhat agree with. Or at the very least it delays the chance of HD remasters like Wind Waker.
