I'd agree with this, most of my friends will buy the new CoD/FIFA/GTA when they come out (I know GTA isn't an annual release btw) and that is it until the next year, rarely do they try anything different, i guess it's because they know they're going to like what they are getting and they don't risk wasting money.

And what about Nintendo? Those Mario and Zelda games? Arent they same?

.....Duh, this been the trend since 2010. But not all gamers follow this trend and I wouldn't consider a bad either. Just Business practice.

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

Also, water is wet, and Nintendo gamers mostly buy games that are Nintendo developed.

So I expect third party games that come once a year to top the Xbox and Playstation consoles with a few exclusives to be there as well.

and Nintendo owners dont? I dont understand your point here

That's crazy. That's like saying 3DS owners buy a lot of Pokemon games.

Ridiculous.

Sort of but deep down, its just old game developers who really good at making good polish games, but scare to move pass the 90s and evlove the company and game industry. Which is why Splatoon is somewhat important for Nintendo, base on what I read, this is the first big budget Nintendo game that's being develop from the ground up from people who grew up in the 90s and isn't being superwise or direct from Miyamoto or any other older developer. (Hope I worded that right)

If this game do well, we could see new IPs from the younger devs at Nintendo, which have me excited :)

I don't, I do get some 2/3 years ones tho

The only thing I've been getting yearly is Pokemon lately.

Admit it everyone people who own an Xbox/Playstation console will most likely purchase games that come once a year like Call of Duty, FIFA,Madden, etc. They are also mostly responsible for most of the hardware boost when they get released as well. Look at the software when the PS4 and Xbox One launch third party yearly games top those consoles as well. Some will also get games that come every 2 or 3 years (Halo,Gears,Uncharted,Far Cry,etc) or in some cases 4 or 5 years(Grand Theft Auto,Metal Gear Solid,Resident Evil,God of War,etc)and they will mostly ignore games like indies(except Minecraft, obviously)and especially JRPG's(except maybe Final Fantasy) but it is the yearly games that they will get. I'm pretty much the opposite of what you just described.  I've played exactly one Call of Duty game.  Single player campaign only.  Then sold it.  I have never played FIFA or Madden. I have two NHL games...from the entire series. Never touched an Assassin's Creed game, and most of the yearly games I do own were purchased as a bundle or a remastered collection (God of War, Uncharted). The only games I really do buy at regular intervals are those from From Software (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne). I play a fair bit of Indie and retro games across PS4, PC, and Wii U. And I wish....truly truly wish...that the JRPG makes a massive comeback.

Needless to say, these newer gaming generations aren't necessarily aimed at people like me.

Yeah there are people who are saying that COD or FIFA are either trash/die/they deserve to sell less even thought most of the majority will get it anyway with everything else getting ignored unless a friend suggests it, this is sort of the point I am trying to make.
