Forums - Gaming - Greg Miller prediction about Batman Arkham franchise.

Greg Miller (whom I find to be a very charismatic and knowledgable speaker on games )has made a prediction in the wake of the news that Batman Arkham will be the finale of the franchise. He boldly stated that WB will not drop their relationship with Rocksteady, but will opt for the game to usher in an era of Justice League titles. If Greg is correct, this could be great for comic book fans. DC definitley could use more hype for their other characters and Rocksteady is just the team to do it. Outside of that there are some other alternative predictions for 2015.

A Justice League game would be insane!

Maybe they'll take a crack at another Superman game! ...a crack undertaken, ideally, when nobody in the design or financing departments are ON crack. -_- Superman Returns was such a disappointing tease, in no small part because beneath the unfinished, broken dreck, there was the tiniest glimmer, the littlest itty bitty sign of how cool it would actually be to play as Superman in a giant Metropolis, complete with almost all the superpowered fixins. Lego Batman 2 did a liiiittle to scratch that itch, (not going to lie, my inner Superman fan squeed when I found out the classic movie soundtrack song played every time you flew in Gotham as Supes,) but damnit, we need a Superman title filled with TLC! >.

Or He Procrascinates, In Which Case Zanten, Doer Of The Things Later

Or It Involves Moving Furniture, in Which Case Zanten, F*** You.

Makes sense. I got my Avengers itch scratched when I played Ultimate Alliance 1 & 2 on the PS3. Civil War was awesome and I played both stories. As for Superman, its going to take a very good company with a very good eye for allowing Superman to have some vulnerabilities to make this work in the most positivie way possible. Add his greatest enemies to the mix and make it happen. In truth it always works better with Superman in the Justice League, because it tends to give everyone a chance.

First I want to just say that Greg and Colin are awesome and I admire what they are doing. Its something I wanted to do for a long time and wish I did earlier with boom with youtube channels. I gave them my support for branching out from IGN.

Anyway, I am not a Justice League fan or a huge comic book fan to tell you the truth but I loved Batman but mostly because of cartoons and the movies. I will feel out of the loop knowing nobody else (well of course Superman). I think Marvel has done a great thing with their movies with quality and such I wonder how the movie will be. I think it would make sense to do considering Batman V Superman. It would make people more familiar with the characters and simply smart to promote a game alongside a movie. That would make good business sense. I can see it happening.

Have you seen the Justice League animated movies? DC is currently on a tear when it comes to the animated end of things in comparison to Marvel. Marvel is doing very well when it comes to the silver screen though. :)

Aye; Superman Returns actually had an interesting idea wherein Superman was invulnerable, but the city was not, meaning that (in theory) you were being judged by your ability to protect the city. Unfortunately, in execution this just meant giving the city a health bar, which would dwindle if baddies so much as wee-ed on the grass, and left one feeling more like SuperMaid. Then there's Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, which periodically, when a vehicle exploded or something, threw in a quick-time event where Spidey could save someone emperilled by the fight in progress, but the mechanic was severely underdeveloped.

Overall, though, I think there is potential in having a Superman game where, much of the time, you're more concerned with safeguarding the lives of the citizens around you than you are your own personal well being, (though obviously with boss battles thrown in against foes who pose a threat against you.) His superspeed- both normal 'runrunrunrunrunsoFAST' and 'bullet time' variety- could leave the chance for high-speed rescues and the like.

I also would love if some dev would factor in his reliance on the sun for his powers; maybe an energy bar that fills up faster at higher altitudes, (Superman Returns actually had this too,) but functions as a source of ALL his powers, including invulnerability. Use too much energy, or take too many hits, and your health starts to get chipped away at. Against particularly strong foes, you might be forced to retreat to a higher altitude to recharge, but with the risk that the villain will wreak havoc on the city while you're sunbathing. =O Or stay in the fight and risk getting beaten into the dirt when you run out of steam. Unfortunately, that mechanic seems more suitable to a 'hardcore Superman mode' than a base game. xP

I guess I will check out the movie. I never been big on comic books but always loved these characters on tv. Way back in the day I loved watching the Batman cartoons.

That prediction is like a year old though.

Perhaps, but I am talking about Greg Millers prediction.
