Well unlike Splatoon it's genre is kinda niche. I'll most likely be getting this day one or shortly after release though!

They are also hoping the the FE crowd and possibly the SSB crowd invest in this game with the FE amiibo support

Game looks bland in my opinion, name sounds extremely generic.

Zelda MM pin - really weird. But - Nintendo knows their customers best.

I think it will sell pretty good long term. It offers online multiplayer. And for that it can't hurt to have a larger install base to begin with.

On the other side: those who preorder are free to sell those pins. So some might use that as an "discount" which is fine for those who are only interested in Codename Steam...

I wouldn't be surprised if the collectors value of the pin is worth more than the game itself after enough time passes. I think its a smart deal and at the very least resellers will be buying the crap outta the game.
