Xbox had a larger install base compared currently with the 360.

I'm starting to doubt that there will be a price cut on the 360 more and more every day. With the PS3 faltering, why would MS want to lose money when it's entirely possible for them to make money instead?

It's true... MS has no reasons to cut it's prices.

A good reason to cut it's price right before the holiday would be to put an even greater distance between it and the PS3, as well as trying to keep up with the Wii. But Microsoft seems to be in a reactionary position, waiting for Sony to make all the moves instead.

First of all, a lot of you obviously don't look at this site's charts. Secondly, are we limiting this to US only because otherwise a lot of the predictions make no sense. Madden does not sell outside the US. It's a US sport. It sells worse than Fifa sells in the US when compared to "Others." Also, Halo outsells Madden in the US.

Unless GT IV comes out way too close to the end of the year, then it will easily sell the most. Zucas, we all seem to be counting multi-platform as the same sales, so join in.

GTA sells over 10 million on the PS2 alone, so between the PS3 and 360 I think it will easily win.

Except for Pokemon, of course. Every one of these combo released has sold more than 10 million, and...well, here's the chart:

Was Mario 64 bundled? I can't remember. Anyway, I expect: Pokemon, GTA IV, Halo 3, and whichever Mario game is released first to be the order.  Pokemon is already over 6 million and it hasn't been released in Europe yet.

There is no way Halo 3 is going to outsell pokemon...

GTA IV no doubt if you count both platforms, I'll guestimate 15 million copies total, remember this IS a system seller, no matter which system it's on.

This is for 2007 only, not carry over into 2008. I'm sure GTAIV will sell very well across both 360 and PS3, but it won't hit 15 million before the end of the year. The undisputed big seller for 2007 for any console/handheld will be Pokemon, I think we can all agree about that. But, for console only, it seems the biggest games will be Halo 3, GTAIV, and Super Mario Galaxy. Halo 3 is in September, GTAIV is in October, and I believe SMG will hit Japan in October? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I think it will be close between Halo and GTA. Halo has the time advantage while GTA has the multi-platform advantage.

I'm almost certain it will come down to those two games (on consoles, that is). I don't think SMG will move anywhere near that number of units right off the bat. It's more of a "crawling sales" type of game that will continue to sell until Nintendo decides to stop printing copies but will never have the monstrous one or two weeks of a Halo or GTA.
