I honestly find straight FPS/TPS games as simple as generic platformers. In some cases, more so.
Depends on many factors though, pacing, level design, unique gameplay elements.

Exactly what he said.

FPS is the least original genre of them all. Every FPS feels the same. Yes, from Haze to Halo. In fact, they can stop including single player mode in FPS all together. No one plays those games to do anything but multiplayer.
PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS
A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!
i dont like not seeing the character im playing. also, to aim with the analog stick is not for me. 3rd person, with no needing to aim everytime is fine.
i love plataformers, i started gaming because of them, and experiencing them on wii U brought backall the memories and experiences i had on snes, when gaming were simple adn awesome! i idnt felt it on GC, ps2, wii, ps3, ds neither 3DS, only on wii U.

On many nintendorelates sites and some topics on this site I read comments like the twins only got shooters (wrong statement but never the less) to defend the so called more diverse Wii U library. Point is first of all there are more playable genres on the twins and second and probably more important is a game with guns in it per definition less than a platformer. Because if I count correctly the nintendo WII U, has NSMB U, 3D world, DKC TF, and Captain Toad which is almost halve of the wii u total exclusives. What I am trying to say is that where has the idea been formed that platforming be it 2d or 3d is per definition better than shooting or is the motivation by those arguments simply nintendo doesn't make shooters so it is probably a shitty genre (except for 007 on the N64 we all loved that game). Those same people are probably going to love splatoon and are actually a bunch of hypocrits. But what do you think is one genre per definition better than another or is it just some bs to defend your favourite console/bash other consoles |
Fair point. People shouldn't throw stones in a house made of glass. Yeah Playstation has a lot of shooters, but Nintendo is just about all platformers so...
Prediction for console Lifetime sales:
Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million
[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]
3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m
I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

So of much of this post is incorrect/closed-minded it's funny. Every FPS is the same? So Halo is the same as Far Cry? Ok bud.

FPS games bore me personally...but it's kinda silly to rank different genres as greater or lesser than one another. Different people have different preferences.
Of course, this attitude definitely isn't limited to Nintenbelievers or whatever clever buzzword fans of that publisher get this week. I see plenty of people that trash platformers as well. It's best not to give these people attention. If they need to put down other genres to validate their own preference, then it's clear they have their own personal issues to deal with.

For me at least, pointing a reticle to a target isn't as interesting as jumping between platforms. I appreciate both kinds of game mechanics, but I'd be inclined to check out the platformer more than the shooter.
