I doubt they will advertise it much when their competitors have better online offerings for free aswell. I'm sure splatoon will be good like most ninty games but you should probably wait until you play it or it's reviewed before calling it amazing.

What?

The ps3 and 360 have free online and way more and better online games than the Wii U. Also with next gen you get2 free games a month for your 5$ a month subscription plus 2 more on the ps3 if you have it. That's better than free online and no free games.

The problem with this is that these 'free' games are worthless unless you continue to cough up for your subscription. And part of the reason that the Xbox One is selling poorly is that people aren't prepared to pay for two subscriptions every year and that the 'free' games available for the Xbox One have always been poorer in quality than the 'free' games available for the PS4.

The Wii U is the best console to own at the moment due to the size and diversity of its library and the high quality and number of exclusive titles. What it lacks in third party multiplatform titles it more than makes up with its exclusive library imo. The Wii U and PS4 or Wii U and PC combination is far more impressive than a PS4 and Xbox One or Xbox One and PC combination tbh.

Xbox One is not selling bad in any way.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

I forgot 360 charged. My point still stands sony offers a much better online service for free on ps3. I don't see the point in spending money advertising an online service that is much better on pc, ps3, X1 and ps4 where 99% of the online community is already playing and very satisfied.

Like I said the same applies to the 8th gen as a whole, but the PS3/360 clearly hasn't had much an impact that I can tell, namely because they are old and many already own them while 8th gen is brand new and will be getting most of the support from here on. As for the point, surely you can't expect Nintendo to just rollover and die (although that is an option!). Like said in the OP it wouldn't be advertised by itself but rather as an additional point for the Wii U in general and online games like Splatoon.

I don't think Nintendo will make it a big deal, because Trolololo it's Nintendo.

They just gotta show how fun it is, no need to talk trash about money and stuff.

I don't think they will either, but they should! The Wii U and Splatoon especially need attention, and even though Sony/MS could counter as pointed out already, that'd only increase the amount of notice they get. Splatoon being a new IP releasing on an uber low install base means they needa go all out with it!

If Nintendo makes their games make you pay to be online than that is it for me and consoles, I will become a PC gamer, I should not have to do that,.

But Nintendo is smart enough not too, and I know it is a lousy move to play this card but... WII U GAMING MASTER RACE.

Really?  What if you pay 5$ a month and much more than that in decent free games?

Ps3  will get more games in 2015 than the Wii U and many more online games too.  There weekly sales won't be too far apart email either

What does this even have to do with what I said?

Should Nintendo advertise that they only have three worthwhile games to use the free online with? Lol I don't think so.

Plus Splatoon needs to prove that it's online mode will be robust. So far, they're making it seem like they will only have one mode, for example, and that just doesn't stack up to other shooters.

They have less games in general due to lack of third party, are you saying they shouldn't advertise at all? They have to work with what games they've got, and those three games are not the only ones using online rather the most pronounced.

Turf War is simply the primary mode and best way to highlight the game's unique mechanics. There's no way they wont atleast have the no brainer modes like Deathmatch, King of the Hill, Capture the Flag, etc.

I'm saying that the shouldn't advertise a feature with an obvious hole in it. Why would they brag about having free online when it's real world utility is so limited? They'll just get dogged on. Stick with advertising a good game, because they aren't competing when it comes to features.

You say there's no way, but when asked about other modes, all they said was that there would obviously be local co-op and a single player mode. They were very careful not to mention even the existence of more online modes.
