Get all those parts in a PC and you'd have one good gaming computer.

I only see two things against this, and that is the ridiculous price (anyone who pays that much for a computer other than some business is crazy or Bill Gates) and the fact that its a Mac.

It's so expensive because it is intended to be a really good server. Not a home computer.

Nah, that's a Pro, not an X-serve. It's for serious AV and design work.

I see a lot of hardware in there that isn't really needed for a gaming rig. You could knock over a thousand bucks off that price.

Good server? This is a pretty good desktop configuration for a 3D artist (would need more memory). Would be a waste to put a 3k+ graphics card on a server ;)

Optimistic predictions for 2008 (Feb 5 2008): Wii = 20M, PS3 = 14M, X360 = 9.5M

Yeah, you're probably right. I stopped at the RAID configuration. Which to me = server.

If you are serious about design work and AV editing you go for a CAD2 with Avid for AV. Some companies use these since the Art Instute and Academy of the Arts like to use macs and that is all they know. Macs are more common for Low Range studios and for Audio Work. But the 3D studios like DW and Lucas Arts use Red Hat Linux. Of course you will find Macs in almost any place since some people like OSX but it is more of a desktop with minimal use.

The price for teh Low end model is actually a good deal you can configure a similiar PC for about the same price. However whenyou start moving up to the High end it really falls apart even Dell offers better high end workstations with a lot more RAM(up to 128 gigs of RAM wiht a riser board)
