If you are serious about design work and AV editing you go for a CAD2 with Avid for AV. Some companies use these since the Art Instute and Academy of the Arts like to use macs and that is all they know. Macs are more common for Low Range studios and for Audio Work. But the 3D studios like DW and Lucas Arts use Red Hat Linux. Of course you will find Macs in almost any place since some people like OSX but it is more of a desktop with minimal use.
