Forums - General - LoZ Windwaker. What did you think of the game.

Im writing this because my friend said Windwaker was a bad game because of the way it looked. He said it was the main reason. He did not talk about the gameplay. The Storyline. The awesomeness that is this game. So please tell me what did you think of the game. Did you like it or hate it, and if so why did you like it or hate it.

Here are my thoughts. It was a zelda game but with a creative art style. Windwaker was an epic adventure that had a massive overworld, and epic dungions. Although the game was easy. I had a blast playing it. The only thing that was a bother to me was the level diffiulty. Other than that i thought nintendo made a darn good game.

WW is an awesome Zelda game! I have a friend exacly the same way. Pisses me off, considering that he never played it.

@RCT good to see someone else and not just only me who has this problem

I liked the game, but it wasn't the graphics that was the problem. The long distance boat traveling and the 8 triforce shard search really hindered the experience of the game for me.

Yes, Windwaker is a very good game, IT was the first Zelda game I played and I had a blast finding out the puzzles in dungeons and fighting bosses, I agree the game was hard, the hardest in the series IMO, the 8 shards was the most difficult part of the game, I couldn't get them all without the help from game guides, But I managed to find them all and reach to ganon

The Windwaker is still in my mind the best looking game I have seen, and still my favourite game of all time despite strong competition from Wii Sports, Super Mario Galaxy and Zack and Wiki.

And I agree the difficulty could have been increased (If the next zelda has puzzles as brilliant as Zack and Wiki I will melt) but that is my only complaint, some people say the sailing was too long and boring but I find it a relaxing point between the main gameplay, unless of course I feel like doing somehting while sailing, which there are quite a few things to do (fight gyorgs/octos, hop onto a platform or submarine, or collect coins from barrels).

And the Nintendo Gallery is the best sidequest in any of the Zelda games I have played (ok only 3) collecting skultula in OoT was dull by comparison.

Edit: @pichu... erm, it was an easy Zelda game really, if you had played OoT before it WW is quite easy.

Good game
Story: 9.7/10
Gameplay: 9.5/10
Graphics: 8/10
Controls: 9/10
Replay Value: 7.5

My Rating: 8.7/10

I loved TWW's artstyle. My only problem with the game was that damn quest for the Triforce Shards. And the dungeons were a tad easy (not enough puzzles) as well.

Overall, I'd give it a 9.5, but it definitely falls short of OoT, MM, and TP because of the Quest for the Triforce Shards.

A new Wind Waker would rock on the Wii, the controls suit it well for the wind baton and whatnot. But yes, the original was great, it would have been perfect if the world was just a little more populated. It felt a little too dead.

But of course, that was part of the magic of Wind Waker. It was after Hyrule had been flooded, so it was just a bunch of tiny islands, with few inhabitants. The style of each dungeon was great, I loved them all. I forgot how much that game amazed me until I thought about it some more.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
