Not surprising as home consoles are increasingly becoming less popular.

Handhelds too.

No it's not. The Japanese console market is fine.

How can you argue that there's not a decline......

The PS4 is gonna at least get the japanese home console market out of its recession, with the help of a massive new Level 5/Japan Studios IP, a FF XV that is going to reignite the series and DQ XI. B.E.L.I.E.V.E.

Sure when you compare it to the enormous height of the DS. The 3DS has already surpassed the GBA, as far as i see it, the market has normalized for Nintendo

But the market isn't just about Nintendo's handhelds. The userbase they had with the DS didn't disappear, they just starting spending money on mobile gaming. That's the handheld market becoming less popular (it's even more lopsided when you consider the massive 60-70% drop for Sony's handheld).

Looking at VGChartz numbers, the GB sold 31,301,489 in Japan.
