Wii U is about 300k away from passing The Sega Saturn as of Dec 20 numbers.  Wii U has been doing about 300k the last couple weeks so it will be very close on the 27th update.  I don't know if traditionly the week of christmas they drop, But I think if it doesn't do it this week it will have it by the the first numbers of the new year.  Every Victory is a Victory no matter how small.

Your numbers are wrong. Saturn sold 9.5 million

Solid data for Sega consoles is usually pretty hard to find. I think the most accepted estimate I have seen around the internet for Saturn is around 9-9.5 million but no one really knows for sure.

I really don't see it touching the gamecube. PSVita will be the last system it surpasses.
