I think the reason Xbone is going to win the US and why it's inevitable is because we're seeing a late uptake in people upgrading from last generation on the 360's side. It's starting to look like the PS3 last generation where alot of people wanted one, but waited until the price came down. The Xbone launched at a ridiculous $500.00 price tag. I think we were all thrown off by this and assumed those early PS4 numbers were people jumping ship. I think some of it might have been due to that but now, it's looking to be alot smaller than we anticipated.
There were ALOT of hold overs this generation. Way more than ever before... or atleast in modern times. I think this (2015) is the year we see the majority of them upgrade and I fully expect the Xbone to win the US because of the 360.

You're running on the assumption that 360 users will automatically get an X1 and that is deeply flawed. One thing's for sure is that the majority of a console's userbase is not loyal to the company who makes that particular console. This was proven from the transition from the PS2 to PS3. We are seeing a similar situation with the transition from the 360 to X1. The PS4 is winning over what I call the "swing" gamers. These gamers hold no preference for one company over another and will purchase the console they think has better value.
And this is why the PS4 is outselling the X1 even though the X1 is cheaper by $50 with two games instead of just one. Gamers see that there is more value in the PS4. Grim Fandango Remastered is coming out on the 27th; The Order: 1886 comes out next month; Bloodborne in March; MLB 15: The Show in March; Toukiden Kiwami in March; Omega Quintet in April; and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD in spring. There are several other games coming out such as Tearaway Unfolded, Ratchet and Clank Redux, The Tomorrow Children, Wild, No Man's Sky, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, The Forest, Rime, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, and lots more. What does the X1 have to match the PS4 in terms of quality and quantity?

Actually a majority of PS2 owners are loyal to PS because PS3 >50% PS2. Also pretty much 100% Xbox owners bought 360. And 100% GC owners bought Wii, probably, and they will also almost all buy Wii U. So I would say a majority of long time gamers are loyal to a brand. But there is a sizeable minority who are not. Most of them went PS2 --> Wii or 360, because most of them bought a PS2 as their first console so they had no particular brand loyalty in gen 6, and swapping in gen 7 means no brand loyalty there either. They seem to be mostly, but not entirely, going back to PS this gen.
