Forums - Sales Discussion - Amazon US January monthly bestsellers and general amazon based discussions

The monthly finally updated. Soo for those who are interested:

The Wii U has moved up to the hourly to 51, largely due to Mario Party and Kirby falling to 66 and 56 respectively. Also two GameCube adapters in the top 100, so apparently a lot of people still love that controller, especially for Smash. 3DS AC adapters seem to be doing good, preparation for N3DS I assume?

In the Monthly, the Wii U has moved up from 52 to 50.

I'm kinda surprised the Wii U is holding on as consistently as it is. Maybe Nintendo can make it to March with the $300 price point.

Spring is way too early for a price cut. Heck i think 2015 could be too soon. It's still selling so well.

New SKU (not slim),  I'll leave it at that.

Same casing, lower production costs though thanks to GDDR5 chip improvements and whatever else was improved within the last year.

It is definitely believable.

They have an advantage, but right now it is a good time to press on the gas even harder.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Hmmmm. 1TB $399 and 500GB $350? I really don't think Sony should touch the price yet. Especially a 2 SKU nonsense.

In other words, it's nothing more than a guess. Got it.

I develop games for a living and my husband designs and manufactures officially licensed gaming peripherals,  (both verifiable,  feel free to ask a mod),  only reason there is no documentation to back up what I say is because without them,  it's "speculation"  and with them,  it's a breach of NDA,  and thus our jobs and potential legal turbulance.

And while I'd love to dump a pile of documents in your lap and wipe that smugness of yours,  its simply not worth the reprocussions.

It can sell even more though with a price cut and land a big blow against the XB1 and the momentum it gained throughout the holidays.

Not to mention there are some big exclusives and big 3rd party titles with Sony advertising coming out around that time too, so they plan to maximize on their position.

Yeah but the blow can be harder if they wait until sales slow down and do a $299 price cut. It's clear even with XB1 $50 cheaper it still can't beat the PS4. Spring seems so random.

Why wait for sales to slow down to try and pick them back up when you can try to take already high sales and make them even higher?

Why would you want to drop price at any other time than the time when your heavy hitting games release? The games increase sales, the price cut increases them further. The price cut increases consoles sale, which in turn also increases software sales. maximizing the potential of your big exclusives and 3rd party partnerships makes a lot of sense. It's win/win.

It would also be a great move since the effects of this cut would be felt from now until the holidays and possibly beyond, because for every sale the PS4 can take from the XB1 can have a trickle down effect due to friends buying what friends buy. At no point is increased marketshare a bad thing, especially when you're already in the drivers seat and making profit on each unit.

More consoles sold = more peripherals sold = more games sold = better than their current state, even if their current state is very good.

True enough. I just would like Sony to have room for price cuts when they're really needed. Unlike MS who already went pretty low and, imo, a $299 XB1 won't have a big affect now.

I'm trying to think of a reason for why Tachikoma would make this up, she doesn't seem like a user that would make stuff like this up for attention... also there was this thing with the announcement for TLOU:R being included with the PS4 where they specified that it's going to be included with the 500 GB bundle, so that could be a sign of a new SKU with a larger harddrive, but still spring does seem early.

Monthly Updated.

PS4:8
Xbox One:18

I know all about NDAs as I am not only a Game Designer, but the head of the team. My advice for the future, if you know something but alkso realize that you can't share, keep it to yourself. Otherwise, it just appears that you're blowing smoke for the sake appearing to "be-in-the-know". I'm not saying you don't know anything, just don't get why you'd say something without even being able to elaborate.

Or maybe you could just skip over Tachi's comments if they're that bothersome.  Frankly, I've seen numerous posts by Tachi in the past, that would suggest she knows a hell of allot more about Sony's internal plans than, well, anyone else here.
