Forums - Gaming - Most overrated developer?

Bethesda. Good games but very repetitive missions and tons of bugs in their games.

That's twice they have popped up in this thread but to me they are amazing. The value offered by Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim is astonishing. Such  huge ambition which admittedly means quite a few bugs but the bonus is 100s of hours of gameplay. The one thing I hated about them was their playstation versions. They got a third party developer to do Obliviion on the ps3 and it was great but when they did Fallout 3 and Skyrim themselves the version was poor especially considering the huge cpu advantage the ps3 has which they could have better utilised in the ps3 versions.

My choice would be Bungie. I'll never forgive them for the library level in Halo and their later games seem to have campaigns that got shorter and shorter until they did away with them altogether in Destiny. I like a scripted story and decent length campaign with carefully crafted levels with just the right difficulty to make the gameplay compelling.  Bungie has completely abandoned this.

Can we just lock this thread already?
It's one giant clusterfuck that shows no sign of ever improving.

Please no. It's just difficult to keep up with. People have calmed down some.

Naughty Dog.

They make great narratives wrapped around meh gameplay.

I think you might want to look up objectively in a dictionary, you aren't using it correctly.

Umm, Their games ARE objectively of the highest quality. Nintendo games have the least bugs and most stable framerates compared to other devs.

Quality = Good

Bug free/stable =/= good     Bug free/stable = Bug free/stable

Bug free/stable =/= quality

They may well be the most bug free and most stable games there are, that doesn't make them high quality though. Quality is how good something is which is purely subjective, you can have a really good game with its fair share of bugs or a really boring one that doesn't have any at all.

I don't really agree with this bit.

Wait. Oh man, more convoluted bullshit! I better leave this thread while I still can XD

Except... some people are agreeing with me. It couldn't be that it's actually possible for multiple people to think Nintendo are overrated... could it?

It could be but the more intelligent disagree with you.

Jesus Christ I have to hold back so hard right now to not throw that phrase at you that is going through my mind while reading this comment coming from you.

Nintendo. 1A Quality (technically), but stale as tap water.

Give me some of that brain goo then..

Calm down, guys. It's only natural that the best developers will be named the most often in threads like this.

Just remember you aren't disagreeing with me. You are disagreeing with the dictionary definition of quality

Not really.

"the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence of something."
Right, Nintendo games have the least bugs and most stable framerates compared to other devs. it fits right in :/
