So, I did something today I've never, ever done in the entire 6 years I've owned a PS3....  I bought a pre-owned game.  I was about to walk out the store because they didn't have what I was after, but, after being told things I already knew about why buying used is a bad idea, somehow that was all it took to turn me around.

I ask the guy, "Am I going to miss out on anything that would otherwise come free with a new copy?"  He said no, then went off rambling about how there's no DLC for last of us.  I know it's a single player game, and etc.  But something in my gut just said to ask that.  Even if it were just to give them a hard time.  I knew there was never any DLC that came with that damn game.

But, after I left the store... I remembered something...  Online passes...  That guy lied, I thought.  I knew I was right to ask him.  I may as well had bought the game new if I were going to have to pay for the online pass.  And where is the manual?!  Then, I remembered something...  Beyond: Two Souls didn't have a manual either.

But, a few minutes ago, I decided to take that sheet of paper in my case, and put that code in for the online pass.  I knew for sure that my efforts would be for not, but, I just had to try anyway just to know for sure.  I mean, who would really get this game and not use the online features, right?... right?

To make a short story long, I typed in that code, forgetting that I didn't have to press the X button after every four characters anymore and it came up.  The code worked.  The disc has no scratches.  Just a few prints here and there, and it came with a working online pass?!  It may as well had been a new game, as far as I'm concerned.

But, I'm going to be playing this game for the next week.  Luckily for me, I was able to forget about the game, and not spoil more than the first 20 minutes of gameplay, so I'm good to go!

How many people really get lucky enough to get online passes, and other DLC that only first time users should have?  My last used game I got was wipeout 2048, and it also had a working online pass!  I'm 2 for 2!

Didn't even know these games had online passes. Hasn't that payment model already been abandoned? Are there still new games coming out with those things?

Who cares if a game has online passes, buy a game new and support the developers who brought this entertainment to you.

But you say you have not bought used in a while so I can not hold it against you personally, but I hear people gripe about things like this all the time after buying a game used. We all buy games used sometimes, I do if a game can not be aquired new anymore or if I got it free from Gamefly

Don't start... this is the first used game I've ever bought on PS3.  Besides...  Spending 45 dollars a year after the game came out, the developer isn't going to see much, if any of it by now.  It won't have the slightest effect on the sequel.

Must have been the ps3 copy I traded in for the PS4 version. I gave soneone a working online pass with that deal. =P

I was going to buy a 2nd hand copy of Toukiden and Soul Sacrifice for vita but saw it needs an online pass. Dropped it on the shelf and walked the hell out of there in disgust.

Pretty sure Sony are the only ones that still use online passes.  EA got shit for it, but I didn't hear much uproar towards Sony.

OT: I don't think I've used my online pass for TLOU.  Didn't care about the online, bought it for the single player.

I hate online passes. Kind of a a dick move from devs and publishers. Didn't EA start that crap?

I have never been lucky in that regard. I try to avoid used games. Better get sealed.

I remember when EA said they were abandoning online pass. I knew something wrong. EA wont be this good. Then we see them smiling at Xbox One event with DRM. This still pisses me off.

Just got these two games. I will never use online features of these two games. Yet I got sealed one (I dont know whether these will have online pass or not).

I've traded in more than a few games with the online pass code unused. Most single-player games have multi-player components that fail to interest me.

Maybe that's why I've never had a problem with the online pass system. Doesn't matter, now, though, as I think pretty much everyone, including Sony, has dropped it.
