Forums - Sony - PS4 and Monitor Compatibilty

This is really frustrating.

I have been using an IPS HP Pavilion 23xi Monitor for the past 5 months.

Since Tuesday I have not been able to display my PS4 on this exact same monitor after not shifting any cables or settings it happened overnight.

It is not the HDMI port on the PS4 as I can display it on my 40" TN Panel (ew) Toshiba TV downstairs. It is also not the port on the Monitor as I can display my PC on my monitor via HDMi through my GPU. The cable is fine as for both of those tests I used the same cable I'm trying to connect them with.

I tried calling sony support yesterday but it hangs up after I get through the first 2 options (maybe closed) (UK).

Any ideas?

Both 1080p

I've heard about it having some weird incompatibilities with TVs from a friend of mine. He tried hooking it up to two different Samsung models when he bought the console at launch and got no picture at all. After spending about a week trying to get help from support and them being entirely unhelpful he actually went out and bought a Sony TV. Big surprise, that ended up working lol

Haha that is odd ;) But what I don't understand is that the monitor was working perfectly for 5 months and all of a sudden stopped. Unless some random update occurred that they didn't tell anyone about I don't know. It's just very frustrating.

Both 1080p

Maybe try going into video output settings and changing the res from auto to 1080p just in case. It might be an HDCP issue but I doubt it

this sounds like a HDCP handshake problem (those can occur without any good reason)

try to disable HDCP, the option is in Settings -> System

start PS4, X, up, 6 times right, X, 17 times down, X, 5 times down, X, X   should do the trick, if you have to do it without a screen

switch your cable around the other way
