Xbox Live founder Boyd Multerer, who was the first person on Xbox Live and also helped create the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, has quit Microsoft. He announced the news today on Twitter, saying he's leaving "to do something new." Multerer had worked at Microsoft for nearly two decades.

Twitter:

"Goodbye Microsoft. It was a good run. Xbox was Great! Time to do something new."
"Not yet ready to say what that new thing is… But OMG is writing code very day and exploring ideas fun!"
"Wow. Lots of kind words coming in today. I’m proud to have affected so many and hope to continue doing so!"

Most recently, Multerer worked at Microsoft as director of development for Xbox.

He's not the first high-ranking Xbox figure to leave the company over the past 18 months. Others have included former Xbox boss Don Mattrick, former chief product officer Marc Whitten, Xbox Entertainment Studios executives Nancy Tellem and Jordan Levin, and Xbox One TV designer Ben Smith.

Things are heating up. Sounds like he's being very careful about criticizing the company.

Gee thanks. I was starting to think I was invisible. I just posted a thread about how a lizard squad member confirmed they provided GOP with Sony login information involved in the Sony Pictures hack and not a single post in response.

Well, Molyneux was always a hack. Imagine Notch if Notch had to make games OTHER than the one he's famous for...that was molyneux, except he was famous for a much less interesting game.
