W00t! Out of nowhere, I decided to apply for a new job and update my resume. Three days later, I had an interview and a job offer for over $15k more a year than I made at my last full time gig.

After a year, I'll have a 401k, full medical, and 3 weeks vacation. W00t!

Plus, it brings me back to being head of advertising for a company, something I never thought I would miss but ended up really wanting to do again after some time. It's fun being a heartless barracuda and taking customers' money.

401k is a retirement plan, kids. The company will match the money I put into it and put it all in a mutual fund (or something similar) for retirement. It's not the actual money that I make, though that number would be fuckin' fantastic. :D

Yes and no. The upside is that my commute is now down to 20 minutes each way from an hour each way (gotta love SoCal), but I won't have two weekdays at home anymore like my current job. That's when I got a lot of gaming done.

On another upside, I'm salaried now and it looks like overtime will be a real rarity there if I don't dick around too much on the clock.

lol, all you foreigners don't know what a 401k is.

A 401k is a savings plan that gives you benefits over just putting money in a normal bank. Typically the company you work for doubles whatever you put in the 401k. Plus the money you put in the 401k is not taxed before being put in.
