I understand that you really like casual games, but it seems like everyone Wii owner loves every Wii game.
Everyone would jump on someone who loved Lair or Bomberman: Act Zero!

@outlawauron, actually, I don't "really love" casual games. I own Brain Training, WiiPlay, The Sims, and I think beyond that my game collection is mostly more traditional. I just hate people knocking on these games because it's not their type of game. And no, I don't jump on people who like Lair or Bomberman (though I've never heard of that game). Except for Crazzy, and I only knock him about Lair because it was going to be PS3 savior. "IT has DRAGONS and OTHER STufF =))" Otherwise I don't really care what you like, because everyone has a game they like that isn't considered "good" by reviewers.
@Chrono: Yeah that's true. I've never played a Sonic game or a Mario game (besides Galaxy), but it seems that people would love to see them in a game together, a game of more traditional sense that is. And maybe now, with M&S, and Sonic being in Brawl, they will make one. And maybe they'll actually try and maybe it'll actually be good. And yes, they do draw something from the characters, like their speed, skill, etc. And you can play as Miis if you wish, except their stats are very... bad compared to the characters, unless there's a way to edit them. Only played the game once for a few hours (and yes, I had to have my arms put back on), so I didn't get to look at everything.
So you might get your wish. I think this game selling so well would actually help push them to make the game you want them to make.
Edit: Tasty, so there's no chance that the game might actually be good...
Yeah theres probably a much better chance of an "actual game" coming out with those two now, but I still feel ashamed that something this preposterous ever came to being :( Just that opening scene, where Mario and Sonic run off in front of the rest.... *sigh*
As for not playing the other games I can see why you wouldn't have too much of an opinion on the issue, lets just say I'm used to Mario Jumping, flying, shooting fireballs, traveling through pipes etc etc... I'm used to Sonic running through spirals, collecting coins, going at near blinding speeds and saving forest animals while killing giant robots xD Mario and Sonic at the Olympics is a spit on both of their faces in my opinion, hell at least in Smash Brothers they retain they're special moves and stuff, at least they can still be Mario and Sonic :/ A simple difference in stat's is a crying shame :(

you guys can keep hateing the game all ya want i like it and will probably play some tonight....so keep hating i will be having fun

I hope they don't get the wrong impression. Though I think that happened back with Nintendogs.
And Tasty, if GTA4 got a 70%, you don't think it would sell 10 million anyway, just because it's GTA? And actually, looking at gamerankings, GTA2 got a 70% average and sold about 3.5 million.
^^
oh, im not saying the game can't be good.... just not 5 million good. and i understand that it isn't the only game with a popular title that sells big. however, that is the reason it sold big.
if it was like (i don't know) zack and wiki go to the olympics it would be flop city.

Well, this review kinda summed it up for me quite nicely
also, to see this game doing so well, while more deserving games (like NMH or Z&W) struggle to break 500K, it's heartbreaking. I haven't feel this sad for a console since my PS2 days watching Okami and Shadows fail at retail. |
Well reviewers don't get casual games. That game isn't that bad. 8/10 for me. And jugding by whats said, the reviewer didn't play what he tested, otherwise he would have noticed that table tennis is the worst of all ;)

I absolutely REFUSE to play Ninja Gaiden Sigma because Ryu Hyabusa is by far the worst Ninja I've ever seen in the history of my being :/ It's just something so menial that I can't get over. The fact that he looks like a Ninja kills that game for me and I can't for the life of me play it, that game could score a perfect 100, I would still hate it to death. This is a similar case, I can't stand seeing something so wrong do so well. I am happy that you can enjoy it :) but it's something that the constructs of my being would never allow me to like, or even approve of.

Eh... doesn't seem like an honest comparison. It seems pretty obvious that reviewers can't review minigame collection type games, because being a minigame collection to most reviewers isn't a genre but isntead the sign of a lack of talent or imagination to make just one game with the same gameplay all the way through.
Also mentioning this selling 5 million and other games rated higher selling less...
have you ever had a videogame system before in your life...? Ever?
Honestly? Look at Okami or a number of other PS2 games. That's just what happens. Some games that are rated well only apply to a very small niche of the public.
