I dunno, 2 at a time going online is the most I've seen for 1 connection.

okay i get ya...makes me think of the old halo days of wiring up a house also i think this is a pretty good start considering some of the best multiplayer games on the 360 only let you take one peron online at a time

But the thing is, all 12 characters information must be put over the network, so who cares if 2 or 4 people are playing on the same console.

You could argue that the extra processing needed for 4 screens vs. 2 causes problems, but they already do 4p in local mode, and I don't believe that there is that much extra processing needed for enabling networking.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
