Forums - Sony - What's wrong with the PS3's Bluetooth?

I always thought that the Bluetooth remote for the PS3 running off AA batteries was a bit stupid, it would have been much better to be able to charge it in the same manner that the Sixaxis is charged, through USB :D

I know it would be more expesive due to the L-ion battery but it would be worth it!

I though that Sony had stopped 3rd parties from using bluetooth

Never happened to me.

There's nothing wrong with the bluetooth in the PS3. It is just a standard implementation of the standard. Probably 2.0.

There are no apps for phone control of a PS3, or at least none I know of, because no one has programmed them. You can if you so wish, do it yourself. There isn't any substantial demand for it.

Thanks, ion-storm, but I asked for documented answers, not guesses nor adivice on how to invest my time.

Anyway, thanks for taking part in the thread.

I've had the problem of my SIXAXIS randomly losing connection in the middle of a game.

I'll be playing Warhawk, all of a sudden I'll be running in one direction and the controller won't respond.

I've only had this happen with one game, Folklore.  But it doesn't happen often enough for it to really bother me that much.  And it isn't the first wireless product that has been unresponsive, so whatever.  Just the cost of new technology.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Probably most likely its u, mine works fine.

Bluetooth is more expensive to make than stadard RF devices, so third parties don't have much incentive if all the consoles also have USB ports.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

It's happened to me in Heavenly Sword, Warhawk, and Dynsaty Warriors 6 (of the games I can recall of the top of my head). It's the worst in Warhawk because it can cost me a frag/death.

If that's something that's fixed with the Dualshock 3 (along with fixing buttons from sticking), then I may just have to go out and grab a DS3 as soon as I can.

I also like/dislike the battery in the PS3 controllers. It's bad because it's inside the controller and you'd probably have to some stuff if it dies (as compared to simply replacing AA batteries), but I bought a couple of dollars worth of a USB cable extension and I can play/charge my controller easily (along with charging it in down time. If you can invest in rechargable AA's for your 360/Wii, do it because I have some 15 minute rechargable batteries that I mainly use for backup with my digital camera that work wonders for console gaming. Also, they're probably a heck of a lot cheaper than some kind of official battery pack thing (aka the 360 one).
