Forums - Sales - Market Share: PS4 vs. XB1 - Dec 6

Hey, I have no problem with it.  I was one of the first to start these kinds of thread.  Some of which were adopted as regular items on the site.  As you should know.

Im just puzzled by the isolation of UK and US v the whole rest of the market.

I guess it just proves how massively important the US and UK are.  At last people agree.

Anyhow.  Carry on.  Im out of here.

Well, anyone would have to be retarded to not accept that the US is the single largest market when looking at any stand alone country. Then of all the smaller markets, the UK is the largest market when looking at anywhere outside NA. It also happens to be that those are the only two regions that XB1 is at least competing, however lets not forget that even at that the PS4 is still ahead in those markets.

If anything, I think all this data shows just how big and important everywhere else is, especially for those that think its oke if the XB1 just does well in NA and UK.

I findy Lordy's threads very informative. Saying the charts on here already is not relevant. It's like going in to the weekly WW chart discussion and saying the chats are alreafy on this site why are you posting in this thread so we can talk about them. So keep it up Lordy!

You always have my back, thanks :D

In the future I'll let you explain my threads to others! :D

I see no issue with the thread. Presenting data in way not currently done on VGC. In this case two major English speaking nations versus everyone else and showing how different the consoles breakdown in regards to this.

English speaking nations, and the two largest console markets :)

I am glad you like it.

To be fair, us/UK split is only fairly recent, and it's because Xbone is only doing well in those markets. Last gen xb360 did reasonable numbers in other markets so the distinction is quite stark this time around. So in terms of tracking the health of xb one sales USA and UK are important to consider.

feels like forever

but PS4 is doing well in those markets too, much better than the PS3

And that's quite interesting information itself. In many ways PS4 being number 1 in these two markets, at the moment, is the story of this generation...well aside from Wii U's absolute fall from grace. PS4 dominance in, well, everwhere else = expected, and given the level of dominance rather boring and uninteresting. Who can be bothered speculating on whether it will be 4:1, 5:1, or 6:1? Meh, it's a lot and that's all we need to know.

The only interesting things happening are in the USA and UK because there is actual competition there, finally. MS is focussing on these markets because they know the survival of Xbox depends on those markets. Before Kinectless came along, and to some extent even before ACU $350 bundle came along, Xb one being the last ever Xbox console was a prospect that people could not easily dismiss. Now however Xb one is sufficiently rehabilitated in USA and UK for Xb oners to have reasonable confidence that Xbox will be around for at least one more generation after this.

I'm not quite sure what the bottom table is meant to be telling us. Obviously global LTD vs global LTD is comparable and potentially useful information for discussion. But once you establish who the global LTD leader is, it seems rather redundant to then compare the global leader's global LTD with "regional" LTD's of the console that is coming 2nd.

i don't think the Xbox or nintendo crowd would find it boring if they were leading in nearly every market, you're not thinking like a fanboy, lol

that $350 deal is insane that is like £225 ,we'd sell 5m plus quickly if bundles were that price over here,i'm not sure MS would have let Xbox end this gen if it had not picked up they clearly mean business, its going to be interesting to see LTD sales of all 3 and how & where they survive this gen

Can you do charts for Wii U vs PS4? Wii U vs X1?

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Nice charts and all, but a bit silly...that's not what RoW is, never was, never will be.
