Clearly brings nothing new to the table. Every racing game released in the past decade has had driving conditions like that!

not sure if you're joking but if you're serious my reply would be this:

What more can a racing game bring to the table? Flying cars? Streakers from the crowd? Because there's really not much more that can be done. The weather effects and graphics are a step above anything seen before and the racing is very fun. Can't ask for much more than that.

He's joking ;)

What it can bring is replays. I'm using the record for that feature atm, but compressed 720p doesn't do it justice, nor can you use photo mode after the race obviously. I uploaded a couple more videos, click on the picture for the youtube link (at least that still works). It's just shots taking from the video, no time to activate photo mode in the middle of a race.

i've still the last few normal challenges to do so i've al ot of races with the added DLC.

BTW I seen you are like number 88 in the world. That's pretty sick!

Well, to be fair, isn't this their fault for releasing a game that isn't ready?

It wasn't the only one this year though as games like AC: Unity were far worse. But now that it works smoothly it should be re-reviewed.

I agree that Unity had worst problems, but that doesn't excuse DC or the others (like MCC).

I disagree with a re-review. They deserve that score attached to it, as a reminder to not release a game that is not ready.

Games are given scores to tell consumers about their state, and since Driveclub is working flawlessly now those scores are very poor indicator to a consumer about whether to buy the game or not. There is no lesson to be learned in such a harsh way which is also unfair to consumers who would otherwise want to play the game.

You're still under the mistaken assumption that the game scored poorly thanks to the shitty network launch. Read the 40 and 50 score reviews, virtually all of them don't even mention online issues. They all complain about bad AI, poor handling, weak online design (basically Autolog is better), bad game design in areas like car tiers, the penalty system, etc etc.

This idea that a working online mode at launch would have saved DC from a low 70's score is just not correct.

I wouldn't know, was waiting on the PS+ edition to give it a try annnnnd still waiting.

Agree with OP - would give it a 8.5-9 / 10.

Great game

I can't believe people are talking about the balance in the game when they don't own it. Baseless judgements.

If you don't own an XB1 or WIi U (PC for good measure) then I;d say yours would also be baseless.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Wii U is pretty irrelevant when discussing racing games like this don't you think? I can't think of anything other than NFS Most Wanted and next year Project CARS that could even be compared with drive club, and they're both completely different racers.

Eurogamer sum it up well for me. My favourite period in gaming was the late90s and early 2000s and this is like a glorious throwback to those racing games, which are still generally iconic in the genre now.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Damn I dropped 2 places again since going to bed :p

Plus probably thousands of player made races by now. My challenge menu has been showing 99+ for days now. Browsing through the community challenges seems endless. I hope they'll add ways to sort it in the future. Looks like the default sort is how many people have attempted a challenge. It would be nice if you could split it out by type, location and car series like the rest of the game.

You're probably right about that, the online mode was working for reviewers.

Which makes it even more underrated, since the AI isn't bad, the handling is great, Challenge mode is in a whole different leage from autolog and 10x more fun. Car tiers are fine (What's the alternative? Leveling up cars? Doesn't fit the competitive game design) The penalty system was a bit on the strict side, yet had fair logic behind and has been loosened up. (Punishes the one who is furthest from the suggested speed in a collision)

Ofcourse if you mess about with the hot hatch class for a few hours, try every track once or twice and then write a review...
