Forums - Nintendo - Someone Please Explain! - SSB4 Question

Okay. A few days ago, I was playing a 4 player match with a friend and 2 computers. I (Villager) was at 1 life, while Fox and Kirby (my friend) were both a 2. Both get killed and spawn at the top of the stage with 0% damage so that we are all at 1 life apiece. Fox (the computer) runs towards me and I promptly jump off the edge and start riding my Lloyd Rocket towards him. This is a terrible idea. Just earlier this match, Fox simply put up his reflector shield, bounced me back into the open, and I fell into a helpless state and died. As I'm riding towards him, I see him put up his reflector shield and think "game over motherfucker". No way I'm not dying. Then this happens.

Can anyone PLEASE explain to me what happened? I just can't figure it out. Keep in mind that Fox had absolutely NO damage and usually what happens is that I bounce off his shield and die. The only thing that I can see is that my rocket gets stuck on the edge, but I'm still not sure why what happened happened. Any thoughts?

Edit: Sorry about the video quality. All I have is a phone!

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Your rocket hits the ledge and explode, the knockback from that explosion sends Fox to his death. It seems as if the explosions is being reflected by his shield so he gets to 67% and dies.

He ends with 67% damage though! A rocket with someone riding on it usually gives 11% I think. I just don't understand why the damage output was magnified so greatly.

That's because the explosion was being reflected by the shield! Once the shield animation stoped the knocback kicked in and Fox flew to his death! Also take into account that Fox is a lightweight so at 67% a good explosion could kill him if there is enough knockback!
