Forums - Gaming - First thread thingy. Is this console generation your last?

First off, I wanna make clear that anything sarcastic I say out of context you should take lightly. AKA Plz don't ban me. Again.

Well, I just noticed that I'm able to make threads now since I did a thing, so I'm taking this oportunity to ask the users of this website which hold more collective credibility to them than users from a site like YouTube to ask one simple question, is this gen your last? Or at least, are you planning for it to be your last? Since the next-gen jump last year PC gaming has taking been taking a significant boost in users and income, or atleast that's what I've been hearing, which makes sense, considering all the benefits that come off with making PC your primary platform. This doesn't mean that consoles are becoming obsolete, or outdated in the eyes of the general public, but it means that more people are starting to realize that they could be better off with a PC as their main gaming platform, and this is something that is really becoming a standard since a lot of PC-gaming dedicated websites are starting to make PC gaming seem a lot more accessible than it ever was before; Valve is very busy making Steam machines to come bundled with Half-Life 3 to increase sales, Nvidia is making what the Sony wished the Vita did with the SHIELD tablet, and websites are starting produce laptops capable of gaming and advertize that as a selling point, do you think that all of this will cause PC gaming to be a lot more populirized in the coming years? If so, are you going to eventually follow "da PC hype" and join the mmorace? Are you going to keep buying underwhelming Nintendo consoles since the only reason to own a system of theirs is exclusives?

Now, this is personal territory here, but I've been planning to join the greatness that it's the freetoplayrace for a while now, since 2012 as matter of fact, I'm not really sure when I did join Steam, but since then my 360 hasn't feel a single touch of mine, it essentially became my brother's, he's young and watches Minecraft rap videos, so I felt that the console would be a perfect fit for him, but ever since I joined Steam, I just don't think that I'm ready to return to the limitations a console forces upon me. I currently play on a laptop with somewhat decent specs, but I've been planning to build my own PC for a while, I got a laptop for the sake of convinience, since I'm entering college soon, I'll need something to work on if needed, but the thing is, I'm not really someone to expect his parents to buy him everything (I'm 17 btw, u oldies.), I normally work for my stuff, so with all this into consideration I've decided that I can't spend in something so expensive as a GOOD gaming PC, at least not now. WHAT I CAN AFFORD TO SPEND MONEY RIGHT NOW is a console (In NA at least, the damn things cost nearly $550 here on Mexico), and I don't think that'll change for a while, at least until I get a job, which I don't expect to be getting anytime soon. (I'm not lazy, shut up.). So, I wanna know, what's your take on this? Are you on the same boat as me with this console generation being your last? Am I alone here? Do you think that I'm a PC fanboy? Do you give a shit? You don't? Let me know! Criticism is mostly appreciated, mostly. AKA Plz don't hate me.

Possibly, who knows, I may lose enough interest to make another one, or I may die in some random way so I can't do this thingy again, maybe this website dies tomorrow and we don't know. Who knows. By the way, damn, you were fast.

It depends if games I'm interested continue on consoles. If the answer is yes, then I'll continue to buy consoles.

Yeah. I think it's my last. Graphics probably won't get noticeably better and all of the good ideas have been done.

But then, I said that during the PS2/Gamecube era....

Ohhh my God... That wall of text!!! I'm hyperventilating

Well, I will always keep buying things, because I can. Even if I won't play with them a week later. It's just that tech geek in me.

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

Compared to last gen I'm not so sure, last gen I bought a PS3 first (especially after the insulting "get a second job" that Sony told us last generation) and it ended up breaking down a year and a near half after the warranty ran out so rather than shelling out even more money for yet another I instead decided on a 360 and rode out most of that gen with friends and had good times.

Since the past 3 years I've been into PC gaming since I've always loved the RTS titles PC offers and their exclusives, only trouble was getting a stable build to actually run all the games I wanted and along the way I did get screwed out of both money and my recent build by an ex friend, now I'm currently saving money to build a completely new rig so I can max all my games for the next 5 or so years.

I will say this generation has been less than stellar for me since I currently have no "next gen" system so far but halfway through this year I've been getting into what the Wii U has to offer (backwards compat, free online, games I actually want and aren't all brown and grey) and a little of what the XB1 has, Sony hasn't really got anything I want and with a PC I decided on always acquiring multiplat titles on that system so no multiplats on consoles sway me in any way which leaves me with excluvies being the reason to get any console this gen.

After some time I've been getting fed up with Phil Spencers attempts at securing exclusives since I want to buy the XB1 yet he's allowing most games to be hampered by the 360 and allowing some to go to PC which completely destroys any reason for me to buy one (timed exclusives have no sway since time just means waiting it out), he needs to really secure those exclusives, don't let them cross.

Apart from that I'm aware that this gen will be short (hopefully) and next gen to me would really have to be a big leap in terms of gameplay, mechanics, AI (god damn AI 100% all the way) and graphics output in order for me to even think about buying another console, Nintendo mostly has my favour though since the majority of their titles are almost always exclusive and appear top quality to most, I'll most likely invest in a new Nintendo console since it would most likely be the cheapest and if they don't go the Sony route and charge for online play then it's a complete guarantee I'd buy from them again.

For Sony though they'd need to really push the finger if they want me to buy their next system let alone the current one, I'll always have someone throwing me list upon list of games expecting me to not already know what's currently released to soon to be, I know all that is coming out and I'll say that it still doesn't interest me.

Absolutely not!

IMO PC gaming is inherently inferior to console gaming. As long as there are consoles to game on I'll be buying them.

That's okay, one goes for what it suits him/her, personally I don't see much of an advantage to playing on consoles anymore besides exclusives and the fact that Japenes publishers and devs seem oblivious that the platform exist, once they recognize PC as a true gaming platform, then I will see little to no reason to own a PS or an Xbox, I can understand owning something Nintendo since the guys like to make systems that only benefit themselves, but aside from that. no, I can't see much of a reason to own a console after the fact.

Nah. I'll keep buying them if they keep giving me what I want.
