Forums - Sony - Playstation Golds (wireless headset)

Hey guys,

I'm looking to pick up a headset that also provides me with a high quality sound experience to use as my primary audio output for my PS4. Lookd like the Playstation Golds tick all the right boxes for me, does anybody have any experience with them?

I read a handful of reviews about people saying their headphones snapping, seems to particularly occur to people with big heads. I'm not sure if I have a big head, I don't buy too many hats. Anybody got any comments on this? This is quite a concern for me as, living in Hong Kong, the only time the warranty paper has any realistic use is when I've run out of toilet paper.

Cheers

I'm getting these for Christmas so I can let you know then, but for what I read for $99, it's delivers awesome sound quality.

That's what I've heard/read as well. I haven't used them but I was actually really interested in buying a pair recently so I watched a ton of reviews on youtube and read some reviews on amazon and the majority say they're the best 100$ gaming headsets out right now. Sure there are better but they cost a lot more.

Can't really tell you anything about the snapping part. I did read some reviews saying they snap but if you have an average sized head and treat them with care you should be good.

I'm going to be buying them once they go on sale on Amazon. Hopefully boxing day!

I just got myself a set this weekend and they are absolutely amazing. Total surround sound in your ears. A few times it felt like I had speakers behind me it's so good. I was playing Medal of Honor and you could hear the bullets flying by your head and hitting the wall behind. Makes you want to replay all your games over again. I highly recommend you get them.

I have them and they work perfectly fine. The sound is good and the headset is really comfortable. Also the fact that some games have special sound settings is also a plus.

The comfortability is one of the main reasons I want to purchase the Golds. I wear glasses and I've tried a couple of gaming headsets before but after 30 minutes or so it gets super uncomfortable.

The same happens for me. While I don't wear glasses, I've found that after wearing some headsets for a while my ears start to hurt. I haven't had that problem with Gold Wireless since I bought them in August.

Are they essentially the Pulse Elites minus the whole Pulse thing??

Edit: Sound wise of course

i got have them.

i got them shortly after getting my ps4 along side infamous. as my son was born about two months later the only way i'm able to game is with the headset on so i've gotten hundreds of hours of use out of them already.

the audio quality is, imo, very good. i'm not audiophile-fanatic but i'm a pretty discerning customer. the sound is good and frankly better than my audio system for gaming. the surround sound is just so helpful in games like destiny giving you the edge on why enemies are.

chat quality is good. my friend picked up the golds as well at my recommendation and chating with him is great. i can tell when someone with a lower quality product joins chat because a lot of other devices are pretty shit. the golds are not shit.

comfort tends to be my primary concerns for any headset as i don't care how good it sounds it's not worth it if my head fatigues and i have to take them off. these are comfortable even after long hours of play. my head is decently big for the record.

battery life is decent. i find they are approximately equal to a ps4 controller,.. maybe a tad less. i can get at least 6-7 hours in though which is enough. i tend to charge after every use.

i'm not sure about other headsets but the sound/chat button is a key feature to me. a couple other friends have bought cheap headsets but they can never hear me because the game audio is too loud compared to the chat audio. i assumed all headsets allowed this kind of balancing but apparently not.

the headset also allows for 2 "audio profiles" via the ps4 headset app. i put the basic (balanced) and the "destiny" loadout. honestly,.. i can't really tell the differnce. seems like a dumb feature to me. i can see people wanting to tweet their settings but i don't get the needs for multiple profiles.

what else?

bottom line,.. i recommend them. i'll most likely wear them out before the end of the generation and i expect i will rebuy them in a couple years.

I bought them the other day but i just returned them due to the microphone quality being low according to everyone i play online with (I read reviews and people have the same problem as well). But apart from that the Sound quality is fantastic and they're extremely comfortable. The build does feel pretty cheap but i don't understand how people would break them though, i guess people are just too rough with their gear nowadays.

I would definitely recommend though if you don't intend to use the mic often, if you do then go with something else.
