Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony proves Vita lives on - 16 Vita games announced at PSX

You don't give a damn if you can play that game elsewhere, but you would give a damn if a game you want can't be played on the console you have.

That's a huge reason why people buy an especific console: to play its exclusives. Otherwise, why didn't people bother buying a Gamecube or a Xbox back in its day? They were more powerful consoles than Ps2, that's a fact.

The Vita has no exclusives? I think you'll find it does but I also think you'll find the reason people buy the Vita, regardless of exclusives or not, is because they can't quite fit a PS4 in their pockets. Anyway, it's a pointless conversation. What matters is Vita owners get to play:

  • MLB:The Show 15 to Vita
  • Geometry Wars 3 to Vita
  • Bastion to Vita
  • Need For Speed:Most Wanted free for limited time for 20th Anniversary
  • Shovel Knight to Vita
  • Suikoden 1 & 2 to Vita on December 9th (NA)
  • TowerFall Ascension to Vita
  • Octodad: Dadliest Catch to Vita
  • Super Time Force Ultra to Vita
  • The Banner Saga to Vita
  • Resident Evil: Revelations 2 to Vita
  • Broken Age to Vita
  • Grim Fandango Remastered on Jan 27th
  • Day of the Tentacle: Special Edition
  • Severed to Vita
  • Darkest Dungeon to Vita

And many others.

The PS5 Exists.

Yep. People want games on the consoles/handhelds they own and don't give a damn if you can play that game elsewhere. For instance, I don't care if 90% of all the games on the PS4 can be played on the XB1/PC because I don't own those systems ...

That's why this argument is and always has been stupid.

Let's just say that Vita's lineup is good news for current owners but it won't get many to buy a Vita for the games. It keeps current owners very happy though

They should've confirmed localization for all the Japanese titles in 2015, and whatever hasn't been localized yet for this year.

But, this is good, too.

No games that were developed for the system.

?? All of them are in development for it. Resident Evil Revelations 2 isn't even out yet on anything

Super Time Force Ultra has Shu Yoshida and hashtags!

And Steam has Super Time Force Ultra http://store.steampowered.com/app/250700

That's what I (and probably also Wright) meant: Console and PC ports/remakes, that's all this system seems to get these days. Not games that were specifically developed for the system.

But I won't complain, au contraire. For some arbitrary reason Sony funded a HD upgrade and a special edition of two games which are in my all-time top 5 (Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle). So at the same time Sony put even more money in the pockets of ever-greedy Tim "thephilfishofadventuredevelopers" Schafer, bring these remakes to their systems and - the only interesting part for me - to PC, their home system. No, I definitely won't complain. While the worldwide FFVII fanbase got trolled by SE, for me a dream came true: Out of all possible companies it's Sony which make it possible that I'll soon be able to add remakes of two all-time favorites to my Steam collection.

That's like saying Playstation 4 owners don't care about exclusives because Playstation 4 owners own a Playstation 4 and want to play games on their Playstation 4.

Except one flaw in your reasoning.  Except for Geometry Wars 3, I'll be able to play every one of those games on my PS3.

It doesn't make the Vita look appealing to anyone that doesn't own a Vita nor does it interest me when it's games that I can play and/or have played on my PS3, PC, and PSX.

Eh you can't play Darkest Dungeon, Super Time Force Ultra, Broken Age, Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle special edition, Severed, Towerfall or Octodad on PS3. That's actually most of the games on the list lol.

I'm a Vita owner and I'm not happy with the system.

You can think it is pointless if you want, but doesn't make my point any less valid.

"made specifically to artificially reduce the value of a particular piece of hardware."

It's the opposite, actually. Exclusives improve the value of a particular piece of hardware. I don't see anyone running to the store to get a Vita for Shovel Knight. I could see people running to the store to get more Vita-exclusive Uncharted games. You get the difference?

Yeah I'm excited for the remakes because I haven't played them. Well, I did play about half of Grim Fandango but stopped for some reason
