Indeed. Frederick is the worst Jeigan in the history of Fire Emblem I think xD

Frederick:

HPStrMagSklSpdLukDefRes
110% 65% 10% 55% 50% 40% 55% 25%

Marcus (FE6/7):

HPS/MSklSpdLukDefRes
60% 25% 20% 25% 20% 15% 20%

HPS/MSklSpdLukDefRes
65% 30% 50% 25% 30% 15% 35%

Titania (FE9/10):

HPStrMagSklSpdLukDefRes
80% 45% 25% 60% 50% 45% 40% 45%

HPStrMagSklSpdLukDefRes
60% 60% 15% 55% 50% 40% 20% 30%

I haven't looked them all up, but I can say for sure that Frederick's stat growths are much better than Marcus from FE6/7. I have nightmares from using him back when I was a newbie...so many null level ups. Frederick also is superior to Titania in FE9 and about on par with her in FE10...thought it can be debated if she really fits the archetype in that game.

Though really, with the existence of the 2nd seal mechanic, Frederick's stat growths are kind of irrelevant, seeing as how you can stat max anyone you want if you care enough.

-------------

@OP: I'm glad you like it! FE:A was my GOTY 2013, so it make me happy to see others give it a shot. I highly recommend trying it on Classic mode after your first playthrough, since it's a core mechanic of the franchise. If you wanna try out another entry, I'd recommend FE7 (Fire Emblem GBA) or FE9 (Path of Radiance). Probably my favorite titles with regards to gameplay and story respectively.

I shall check base stats for everyone. I still think Marcus/Titania were far superior to Frederick, even with the lesser stats growth.

Titania was pretty useful through most of Path of Radiance (RD is different because of how the Greil Mercenaries come on board), which is the best you can say about a Jeigan.

Marcus too; precisely why I have a fond memory of him. He was no match for the Lords once everything was said and done, but still...he hold up pretty well.

Frederick kinda...vanished, from my battle units options at some point.

An amazing game! Finished it on Normal and Hard already. Cant beat it on Lunatic :( stuck in chapter 2 or something :P Classic, that's the problem.
Actually on my Hard playthrough I paired Stahl and Sully and they were really good. Sumia isnt really that useless. I usually use her cuz she moves a lot, so I heal others with her or pair her up with someone else and when it is time to attack, I switch to the other strong guy.

Robin and Lucina were the strongest in my team. I also paired Gaius with that Wolf girl, Panne something like that, and changed both their classes into assassin's I believe. They were absolutely awesome with a very HIGH evasion rate.

Base stats for the Jeigen character will generally vary within +/- 5 points (excluding Titania in FE10 for obvious reasons), but I generally gauge a character's usefulness based on their capacity for growth. In that sense, Frederick is far superior to Marcus. Having the majority of his growth rates in the 20s is just...*shivers* Even doing the math and excluding HP growth (which would give Frederick an edge), Marcus has a 25% of leveling up with no stat growth, while Frederick is about 2%. For a promoted character, a null level up is about the worst thing that can happen to them, excluding character death. I even reset my game when it happens. XD

Of course...this will vary from playthrough to playthrough, which is why there's an old adage in the fandom that a character's viability can never really be judged by personal experience alone. I've had Mist in FE10 dominate with Alondite before. :P

EDIT: I accidentally used Marcus's growth rates from FE6 in the calculation above. It's really at about 10% in FE7...which is still pretty bad.

The challenge of Fire Emblem is not losing any character.
Fire Emblem is the kind of game in which you are playing a difficult mission, 40 minutes in, you lose a character, and you reset and load the save file to replay the mission again.
Even the creators do that, most of the players reset when one of the characters they chose die.
Winning is not difficult, winning without casualties should be quite hard.

Pretty much, hated losing characters . I imagine most people who play Fire Emblem play it like that. (Trying to keep all your characters alive the whole game)

The only reason it took me so long to complete the prior FE, is because i hate losing a single character. Thus I have to redo a battle if one character dies.

Permadeath just makes the game more challenging.

One of my favourite 3DS games, I've done three play-throughs. Started a fourth a couple of months ago and just looked at it. Can't quite understand what I was planning with my pair-ups, so may start from scratch again and get some DLC. I bought the first two packs a while ago, which ones would people recommend? I'm not an ultra hard-core Emblem fan, but any that allows for good exp grinding, and anything with good story content would be a must.

EDIT: Also, what GC/Wii Fire Emblems would people recommend? It might be a while before a Wii U Fire Emblem arrives...

There is only 1 Fire Emblem on each of those consoles; Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn respectively.

The GC one was the first I ever played and won, i was terrible at the GBA games. So yeah its a good game, no waifu system but allows for levelling up characters outside of battle with bonus exp earned (very helpful for low level characters). Also has a good and robust story.

Radiant Dawn on the Wii is much of the same as the GC game since its a direct sequel. It is still good, but definitely for fans of the GC one. Story follows on but is a little weak early on.

I suggest getting them both and playing them, but price may be an issue.

So, I have a doubt about the Master Seal. I have used one with Chrom and other with Robin. Robin was at Level 17 and Chrom like 13-15. Currently towards chapter 10. Is it right to use it? Or better wait later? because I have a third one and don't want to waste it.

Also, the second seal, honestly I don't know if I should change someone class,

BTW, where can I buy beastones and dragonstones?
