A marketing executive at Microsoft's Xbox One division has explained the company will not showcase any new platform-exclusives at The Game Awards on Friday.

Geoff Keighley, the show's producer and host, recently claimed that the event will provide "more than a dozen world premieres," which has spurred fans to ask Microsoft's executives whether they have anything lined up.

But Aaron Greenberg, the marketing lead for Xbox, has poured cold water on the prospect by announcing on Twitter: "Since many have asked we are not planning any new game announcements @thegameawards. Looking forward to watching a great show however."

This does not rule out the possibility of multiplatform game reveals, however. One demonstration already announced for the show will be Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Online; the multiplayer component of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

The Game Awards 2014 will take place Friday, December 5, starting at 6 PM Pacific / 9 PM Eastern / 2 AM UK. GameSpot will bring you all the winners as they're announced.

Bayonetta 2, Dark Souls II, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Hearthstone, and Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor are up for the top prize of overall Game of the Year.

Dark Souls II, Hearthstone, Shadow of Mordor, and South Park: The Stick of Truth lead the way with three nominations each across all categories. Meanwhile, Nintendo was the most nominated publisher with 12 nominations.

Below is a breakdown of nominees by category. Nominees were selected by a jury of 28 international media outlets, including GameSpot and sister site Giant Bomb.

Was hoping they could keep up the momentum they've been building. Maybe they're saving the stuff for E3. Not a good sign though.

If any of the three will announce anything, Itll be Sony...

the fact that everything they announced at E3 other than forza horizon was shown with CGi trailers, and we havent seen anything else, shows that they dont have much to show currently. they have a good holiday in 2015 (quantum break, forza 6 and Halo5) but the rest of the year is looking pretty bad. thats why i think they resorted to announcing stuff with CGI trailers at E3 this year when they seem pretty far off. 

they most likely wont. they are showing Bloodborne and The Order gameplay at TGA. announcements are most likely set for the PSX the next day. 

It's hard to reveal something you don't have. But I'm afraid that their inability to produce first party games will only result in paying off developers to keep games away from most consumers, Tomb Raider style...
I so genuinely hope that MS gets their 1st party act together and finally develops some new IPs, so I can sleep without fear of them stealing my favorite franchises, even if it's only for a limited time.

I know this is off topic, but it's absolute bullshit that neither Mario Kart 8, nor Super Smash Bros. for Wii U have been considered for GOTY.

This is what I love that Sony is doing they keep releasing new IP's. Bloodbourne, The order, emagon, drive club, and  I think their is more just can't remember. I know a lot of these fail and don't sell well but I just like that they're at least trying. They don't all pay off but eventually you get a game like The Last of Us and everybody wins.

Is an awards show a place people usually announce games? Just wondering. It's not like new movies get announced at the Oscars.
