Forums - Sony - Sony are kinda lucky TLOU:R launched before GTAV

In terms of most improved, I think the general public conception is GTAV improved much more from ps3->ps4 than TLOU ps3->ps4.

TLOU had improved graphics and sweetly-smooth framerate, GTA:V has improved graphics, and new gameplay stuff.

I love TLOU, but i think if remastered tlou launched after GTAV ps4, it wouldve not been scored 10's.
Maybe 9.6 and 9.5's because people would compare to gtav.

Also, the holiday push for sony was a bundle with two (arguably) best ps3 and ps4 games, two 10-rated games bundled.
And though they likely sold less in NA, at $75 more a pop, plus naturally selling more globally, they actually kinda lucky that gta launched after tlou, otherwise they'd have a bundle with a 10 and a 9.5ish game.

I dunno, I don't really understand your train of thought.

I agree that GTA did more in it's transition than TLOU but I don't think that should change how someone rates a game. They are both amazing games.

The two games are so fundamentally different to compare them or rank them against each other is very foolish. Just because one scores 9.5, doesn't mean the other doesn't deserve to score the same. Regardless of the difference of upgrade quality.

Anyways, to whom who have not played either game, I envy your chance to experience them as new :)

Sony has been lucky with a lot of things. Look at Assassins Creed for example. heavily marketed on POS4 right up to the clusterfudge that was Unity. Then launching Driveclub all buggy before Unity and having unity take the spotlight away. Everything ha been lining up real nice for Sony.

Thanks jlmurph!

I agree to an extent, but the game was probably not judged on the advances to it's engine and performance alone. It may have released on another platform already, but it's still by all accounts an incredible game.

Comparisons with GTAV (particularly if they launched not far apart) would likely have been made by reviewers, and it's score would perhaps not have been as high, but a few points difference on Metacritic is unlikely to sway public opinion massively. The difference between a bundle with two "10-rated games" or one with a "10 and a 9.5" is probably largely irrelevant, they're still two very highly rated games with great word of mouth.

TLoU was actually q great game while GTA is just hype and added a FP view to keep the hype going.GTA5 port is nothing special, but it's GTA so no matter what it would get overrated.

Actually it would've benefited from the holiday season and not every collection has been good. See Silent Hill, Halo MCC and some others..

The Last of Us Remaster runs at solid 60 fps, while GTA V has cleary improved graphics, but runs only at 30 fps.
