Forums - Sales - Failure of game journalism (infoscout article)

There is such unbelievable lazy shoddy game journalism going on right now.  Its one thing when the original article/report (which as it turns out is is nothing but a self reported 1500 receipt estimate) is used and abused here for debate purposes.  Its a completely different thing to see other so called gaming/non gaming websites across the board literally just copying and pasting said article/talking points ad nauseum on every site/social media platform as though its a legit thing with no skepticism or even token research done on it.

Game journalism shoddy? You don't say. Where've I heard that recently...

Are you suggesting that games journalists should check the validity of their sources? Well thats just obscured!

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

That's not a game journalism problem. It's an internet journalism problem. Game stuff might be a little bit worse just because games are an entertainment medium and thus less important overall, but everybody does it this way.

Currently playing:

Bloodbath Paddy Wagon Ultra 9

What pisses me off, beyond the fact that this bs is everywhere i turn. Is it just reminds me of the whole pachter prediction thing recently, and how every site picked that hack story up and ran with it like it was legit. Meanwhile 5 min of research on michael pachter would have revealed he was and has been full of shite and shouldnt be given any shred of credibility when it comes to gaming numbers.

How alot of sites are copying and pasting some bs article/survey about BF sales as though they are legit, and then slightly changing the title to get hits to their various crumby blogs and gaming sites simiilar to the pachter story recently.

thats no game journlism problem, its journalism as a whole...  health is the worst, they just use fake statistic and badly written studies.

game journalism isnt the worst(i mean, they fuck developer for better scores, but ...)  we all wanted the numbers as fast as possible, waiting sucks, but getting good numbers isnt so easy and fast...

So par for the course...

I came in expecting an article, and all I find is some incoherent ranting about some phantom article being reposted...
