He wasnt cut.  He left on his own along with other Naughty Dog members such Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond

Yeah, they left because they couldn't handle it. I remember in their 30th anniversary video they said they people quiting every day.

 I dont believe he gave a reason to why he quit so i wouldnt say you know either unless you have a statement from him.  My point however was that he was not cut and left on his own.

So Nate Wells is the brother of Evan Wells (co-head) so just seems to turn up between jobs

He's only been at Naughty Dog since he finished work on Bioshock Infinite. Seems to like jumping between studios quite a lot

According to his Linkedin profile, he left Irrational Games in August 2012 (presumably to go to Naughty Dog) then worked at Giant Sparrow in 2014.

Given the timeframe he worked at Naughty Dog, I wouldn't say it was a particularly large loss.

Nevertheless, given that he worked on Bioshock Infinite & The Last of Us, he has an impressive resume behind him. Hope CD put him to good use. On a new Pandemonium game.
